My nephew had a horrible teacher who was always late and never went through the worksheets. Please avoid this centre and share the honest reviews here with everyone

We have terminated few irresponsible teachers who did not committed as per the teaching contract, for examples: always late for classes, did not mark their worksheets on time. As a responsible education operator, we must always place our students interest as top priority.

This is a tuition centre which employs unfair tactics against the tutors. I was a MOE teacher teaching as a tutor in Newcastle learning centre. I taught 3 subjects in Newcastle learning centre at their Hougang and Ang Mo Kio branches. After teaching for half a year, on one occasion, my school principal told the staff that we are not allowed to teach in tuition centres. We are only allowed to teach as private tutors subjected to 6 hours a week. Since I do not wish to get into trouble with MOE, I informed Newcastle learning centre that I wish to stop teaching at the centre and gave them one month advance notice. The boss of the company, Mr Kwang refused to let me stop tutoring. He says that I have to pay him the tutor fees for the rest of the year if I was to stop tutoring! He said it was in the contract. And if I do not pay up, I quote “I will go to MOE to complain against you and make sure you lose your job.” Not only that, for the subsequent weeks, he will chase for the payment and say he will come down and speak to the principal. Mr Kwang is bent on getting paid based on the unfair and illegal agreement. On many occasions, Mr Kwang will call to ask to meet at principal’s office to get payment. Fearing for the security of my career, I had to pay despite the unfair conditions. And Newcastle knows that MOE teachers are afraid of losing their job, so Mr Kwang can employ this tactic very successfully. Newcastle learning centre is not only worthless in ethics, it is also a poor quality tuition centre. Across the 3 subjects that I teach in Newcastle learning centre, they used only assessment books as their resource. They are not interested in the quality of teaching as long as parents don’t complain and tutors turn up whether they like it or not. It really baffles me how such a learning centre can still exist. For parents thinking of sending their children to Newcastle learning centre, and especially tutors who even think of teaching at MOE, please reconsider. Newcastle don’t even pay CPF to their tutors. Tell me if I’m wrong. Unless I’m the only one not being paid cpf. Am I the only victim of Newcastle learning centre? I’m afraid not. There are other tutors like me. Suffering in silence. To conclude, parents and tutors beware.

In one word: Bad. This is the worst tuition centre I have ever come across. Like what the other review said about the boss, I couldn't agree more. The boss, Mr Kwang, basically has no concern about the teachers whatsoever. They are merely pawns in his business and he doesn't care about the teachers' welfare at all. He makes them sign an unfair contract and even threatens the teachers. With such an attitude, how can we expect anything from Newcastle Learning Center / Education Centre? There are no systematic approach to teaching, no effective teaching packages, just using assessment books that can easily be purchased from popular. It's a horrid tuition centre.

DO NOT join Newcastle Education Centre! Like what Jessica Goh says, their outdated materials are taken from old assessment books and old school test papers. My only regret is I did not read these reviews and also the reviews from Newcastle Education / Learning Centre Google and Jobstreet recruitment reviews before I enrolled my child. I was foolishly lured by their one-time discount. I should have known better that excellent tuition centres do not need to give any discounts to attract new students and new deposits, and the irony is Newcastle’s fees are not cheap! And you think you pay more to get a good tutor at Newcastle? You are terribly wrong! Their only achievement seems to be 1 miserable student who achieved an award in 2012 and now we are days away from 2018, they are still using that as publicity. It simply shows their other students have no other achievements all these years.
