I found a gem today! The food is very value for money. Ordered 7 dishes for my wife and my in laws, the total was less than 200sgd! Every dish is so well executed! As a regular patron of many Michelin starred restaurants in Singapore, I would say the food here is severely underrated. Didn’t manage to take any photos today because the food was so good! Highly recommended to all Cantonese food lovers! I would visit again!

Saw some good review and wanted to try, no patrons today. Taste is so so, my instant noodles is bland and bit soggy, added chilli oil couldn’t save it. Charsiew noodles nothing outstanding. That area had lots of coffee shop with nice food, the food here - price vs quality is not competitive. Fried intestine is small portion.

The XO carrot cake is probably the best dish, with a spicy tinge and fragrant XO sauce. The Szechuan la zi ji is deep fried to perfection and an absolute guilty pleasure. To top off, the king prawn hor fun with egg gravy is a classic with a nice 'wok hei' smell. Service is quick and attentive as well. What a hidden gem!

Jiang Cantonese Tapas, a casual Cantonese and Asian themed double-storey diner has set up shop along the busy streets of Balestier; an area that is home to famous food joints and cool cafes. Serving a mix of Hong Kong street bites and traditional Cantonese cuisine, paired with Asian favourites all designed for sharing, Jiang’s menu offers affordably-priced fare cooked from the heart with quality ingredients and just-enough wok hey. With the familiar tunes of classic Cantopop playing in the background, enjoy your meal on level one where the retro décor takes inspiration from the traditional 1980s style of Hong Kong tea cafés or relax at the cosy basement of the 1700sqf establishment. Dishes on the menu range from $6 onwards and lunch specials include 20% off. The restaurant also has no corkage charge for bringing your own wines and champagne, to encourage more footfall. Roping in Chef Pam who used to helm Sum Yi Tai’s kitchen, he put together Jiang. Chef Pam’s culinary philosophy revolves around quality produce prepared with rigor and simplicity to bring to the fore the naturally inherent flavours of familiar Cantonese and Asian dishes cooked to perfection. The menu offers choices to cater to all dining occasions. Whether it’s a course dinner you’re craving or you fancy having fuss-free noodles or rice paired with meats and seafood, or even some light bites for snacks; the selection is diverse and encourages the diner to make several visits to Jiang to sample all that’s available or come in groups of five to work your way through the menu. Popular dishes include the Signature Wok Fried XO Carrot Cake ($9.80), Crispy Skin Kurobuta Roast Pork ($10.80), King Prawn Wontons in Chilli Oil ($14.80), Salad King Prawns in Citrus Sauce ($21.80), Lychee Sweet & Sour Kurobuta Pork ($14.80) and the Braised Beef Brisket & Tendon Claypot ($15.80). The drinks menu is equally extensive with draft beers, wines, whiskies, sakes and cocktails as well as non-alcoholic beverages for more family-friendly options. Happy Hour happens daily on weekdays and alcoholic drinks are priced at $9++ then. JIANG Cantonese Tapas is located at 456 Balestier Road, #01-03/04 (next to the SPC gas station), Singapore 329832. Was having high expectations from the review. Ordered fried carrot cake which is properly fried and char and finds it lack of wok hei, fried rice with chicken and salted fish is perfect, koributa roast pork is crispy but lack on taste, fried Mapo doufu would be better if it is the traditional doufu. It is perfectly fried but lack the taste of doufu. and fried French bean with dried shrimp seems like they fried the bean and shrimp separate as the taste is totally separated. As what they claim all in tapas size save for the fried rice which is in very generous portions. Price is slightly on the high side.

Happened to be around the area and decided to drop by for lunch, seeing the number of good reviews. I would have given this place 4.3 stars if I could. The food indeed is great, with the highlights being the char siew and XO carrot cake. You definitely have to try these when you're there. Price is a tad high but its ok for me. I would definitely come back again.

The food and ambience doesn't justify the price. Felt a little rip off if I'm honest. The saving grace is the super efficient, attentive staff and the nice Cantonese music. $10.80 for 8 pieces of rather thin and dry char siew is abysmal. And the few fellows that said the carrot cake is "da bomb", clearly don't know what he is saying. Very tasteless and at $9.80 for a small plate, it's very disappointing. $9 for a pint of Connor's stout is alright. Perhaps the drinks is the main focus and the food secondary?

Great food with great ambience. One of the best bar & bistro I have been to. They play old school canto music. Food wise, all I can say is Power. Order a total of 6 dishes. But only took photo of 4 (too hungry that forgot to take the other 2). The fried rice was great, the amount of ingredients was a lot and every scope of rice was had something to come with. The Char Siew wasn't too fatty or too lean and you could taste the honey sauce but was not overpowering. Roast Pork was crispy and the meat wasn't tough. The beef tendon stew was the highlight of the meal, the meat was stewed perfectly not undercooked nor overcooked till it becomes rubbery, its prefect for people who love fatty meat. The garlic kai lan was good as well, the garlic wasn't overpowering and the greens weren't overcooked. I also order lychee sweet and sour pork and salad prawn with citrus sauce. The lychee sweet and sour pork like the name suggest was sweet, it wasn't too sweet despite having lychee served with it and the meat was not small. The salad prawn with citrus sauce was surprisingly nice (I'm not a fan of prawn) the prawn was big and a generous amount of sauce was poured over it, you can definitely taste the citrus sauce. A generous amount was served as well I also took a photo of the private dinning room, would definitely try it next time if I want to have a private party, very discreet. The min spending is 800 when I checked, but be sure to call and ask the staff to confirm. Overall, great place with great food & ambience. Will definitely come back again soon
