Was curious about French cuisine and wondered why its considered one of the best. Settled on Taratata after some research. We ordered their course lunch set, upgraded my entree to foie gras, rabbit husband opted for the onion soup. We were given complementary bread and butter and it was delicious. I never liked bread, but theirs I like. The foie gras wasn't gamey, it tasted pure compared to another time I had it long ago but the cherry sweet sauce and the crispy cruton made it interesting. Husband said their onion soup was very delicious and although I'd thought it'd taste a mouth full of strong boiled onion, it didn't. It was rich and deep taste that I can't describe in words. Our main course was duck confit and seabass in Crustacean sauce. Usually, the duck that I've had in my life were too strong too gamey and meat be tough or fat too greasy, but I don't know what magic the chef did but this duck was succulent and the fat was crispy skin and the fat not greasy with melt in your mouth texture. With the little brown sauce and the potato slices, it was a pleasure to consume. The seabass was moist and fresh, it makes you think they caught it right out of the kitchen and the fish took in some of the essence of the mussels cooked along with it. Husband wolfed it all down speedily. For the last course is dessert and it was lemon meringue and a tiny sorbet and boy it would pucker your lips with thr sourness and saltiness combined. So be advised to mix it well and the flavour will taste milder but still puckering you up for a kiss. We also added on a creme brulee. The sugar shell was thin but it'll give you enough form to hold within your mouth and the pudding was creamy and mildly sweet. We didn't drink wine, but ice water. The service staff was amazing and they follow table etiquette. I'm glad that Taratata is my first French restaurant experience and I will gladly come and patron again.

β€œTaratata” essentially means β€œNonsense!” in French. What a lovely name! ? Entering this brasserie feels like passing through a time tunnel and emerging to Paris in the early 20th century. The interior reminded me so much of Le Bouillon Chartier, one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. Flavors are decent and unpretentious.

Went there on Christmas eve and they only had 3-course set menu at $118++. Set menu on Christmas eve is ok and is common in many restaurants. But for the price of the set menu and the quality of food we get is totally not worth it! 1st course is either 3 pieces of oysters or a pete. 2nd course we ordered beef wellington and portion was so small and the beef was too over cooked. Last is dessert which is not fantastic at all. We are not going back again. Not value for money and not enjoyable meal at all

I love French food, but sometimes I do find that French food looks to be like serious business, with all the formalities and such. I do love formal settings when I’m in the mood to be pampered. But that is more of once in a while thing, which is not enough to satisfy my cravings for French food. And Taratata Brasserie fills in this spot nicely with its affordable French cuisine and cozy, rustic setting. Now I can see enjoy French food often! Enjoying fresh French Baguette with fluffy centre that is slathered with creamy French butter is a good way to start the meal. French Onion Soup may look messy, but this is seriously awesome comfort food. Rich, thick and flavourful. For a bit of indulgence, I ordered Pan-seared Duck Foie Gras with Dark Cherries. Perfectly seared to have thin crispy exterior that wraps around luxurious fatty juicy core. With the dark cherries added for that variety in taste. Pan-seared Scallops with a Petite Ratatouille & Potato Grenaille. Every component of this dish is delicious. Ratatouille a la cooked veggies in sauce is very flavourful. Pan-roasted Sea Bass with Mediterranean Vegetables features fresh fish with pliable, moist yet firm flesh. I personally think that it is not easy to roast or pan-sear fish to perfection, but the chef at Taratata manages to nail it just right. Thumbs-up. Pan-roasted Eggplant with Parmesan Cheese truly surprises me with how good it is. I never like eggplants, but this dish is one exception for me. Hot eggplant soaked with vegetable sauce works so well with the melted cheese drizzled above. Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice-cream. Premium creamy ice-cream and quality chocolate cake with molten centre is pure indulgence. The interior is classic with hints of nostalgia, exuding a homely feel. I immediately get comfortable and feel super cozy when there. The service is good and friendly. This is really one French restaurant without the frills, aimed at providing authentic and affordable French food at cozy setting. I can truly go back as often as I like without any special reason or occasion, other than the simple decision to enjoy rustic good French food. Thoughts: C’est Bon!

Very classic French cuisine with good wines to pair off as well. The escargots were huge and the taste was beyond awesome? rib eye with bernaise sauce & French fries were really tender and the tuna tartare was also nicely sliced so that every bite gives you a good taste of tuna. I’ll definitely come back again? trΓ¨s dΓ©licieux!
