888 Mookata, Hougang

Decent place to hangout for a relaxing meal with a group of friends. We went a group of 7.. ordered the set for 4 @ $45 and added several other stuff. About 10 plates. Bill came up well under $100. Well worth it! Soup could do with a little bit more flavour but otherwise.. all good..

The place is jam packed during peek hours so I like going off peak instead so I can have the space all to myself. Food is average and wish they had wider choices in terms of alternative cuisine other than local food.

My Favorite place for weekend dinner with my besties! Good service & awesome food! Fun to be involved in cooking ;-)

Excellent experience! The foods are good. The platter for 2 may not be sufficient for every couple. Also remember to find a stable table for dining.

Tried this mookata shop while in Kovan. It’s quite popular cos literally the everyone at the coffeeshop was eating this. Ordered a 2 pax set that had seafood, meat and vegetables n added on more veg and meat. Price is reasonable and the meat was well marinated. Will come back to eat again!

First time trying 888, soup is Corn soup based but can put the mamee tomyum flavor. Meat marination is nothing outstanding, portion seems a bit meh but still filling in the end (maybe Becos of the soup and drink). 2 type of chili sauce to go with the mookata…chicken rice chilli is not bad. Will I return? Maybe not as nothing really attracted me.

Despite 2-pax seating, I can still see a stream of diners waiting for their turn during dinner time on a Thursday night. I would say the food quality is worth the wait. Pricing is reasonable for coffeeshop setting. Ingredients were fresh, soup had a savory taste and the 2 types of chili definitely makes you want to eat more. For those people staying in the Northeast area, this place is highly recommended to fix your Mookata cravings.

Visited on a Friday evening, 6pm, with a friend. There were still quite some tables available. Chose the inside seats as it is within the non-smoking area. FOOD Ordered the Platter for 2 with add-ons of cheese tofu, streaky bacon and garlic chicken. This was sufficient for 2. Almost wanted to add on the meat platter as the Platter for 2 didn't seem sufficient at first glance. Thankfully we didn't do that. The Platter for 2 was relatively value for money. The garlic chicken was delicious; I'll gladly order this again the next time round. Unfortunately the streaky bacon was not worth the money, albeit yummy. The portion is just sad. The 2 sauces offered were delightful! We enjoyed the one which is thinner in texture and spicier. The other is thicker in texture and sweeter. We were informed by the staff to go to the counter to take more of the sauces if required. SERVICE We were mainly waited on by the gentleman with a ponytail, and he was friendly. Also, even though this is a hawker, we didn't have to clear our own table. An attentive staff helps to clear the table quickly to prepare for the next table of customers. An important point to note as I gleamed from the other reviews, was that the mookata stall's staffs will assign you a table. This is rather convenient IMO. So, make sure to check in with the staff first or join the queue once you arrive. AMBIENCE It was a little warm at first as our table wasn't under a fan, but it didn't bother me as much once the food arrived. I appreciate that I was able to enjoy my meal without a time limit imposed within the kopitiam. VERDICT All in all, I will visit this mookata stall again.
