New French-Japanese cafe concept in Ann Siang Hill (the location used to be The Coconut Club). Quite a cosy ambiance. The goma matcha crepe is good, not too sweet and full of matcha and sesame flavours. However the drip coffee is not so good, lots of sedimentation at the bottom of the cup, not so sure why. With the cost of $9 ++, don't think it's worth it at all. Perhaps they are more well-known for their tea.

This is an excellent fusion Japanese restaurant by collaboration between Whitegrass and Havla which opened quite recently. I love their Boyutei Salad, the prawns and squid provided the contrasting crisp and tender texture, while at the same time the entire salad is well tossed with balsamic dressing and nicely seasoned. This salad is surprisingly refreshing and is a good appetizer. The Cha Soba is beautifully presented, the soba tasted fresh and has good texture. The broth has a mild umami flavor which brings the various elements together. The unagi topping is decent, went well with wasabi and chilli paste together. The Chicken Crepe is very okonomiyaki style, tasted and presented almost exactly like it. The soft crepe acted as a wrap and brings together the seafood & chicken toppings and sauces. I love the bonito flakes which imparted the savory notes. I finished off my meal with their Black Forest Tart. The ice cream is creamy & smooth, while the tart itself was warm inside with gooey flowy chocolate. Despite finding this dessert quite heavy on my palate, I still enjoy it very much. The overall quality of food is very high and service staffs are attentive and polite. The ambience is modern, well lit, feels comfortable and clean. I’ll definitely will come back again soon.

New all-day-dining BOYUTEI by One-star Michelin restaurant, Whitegrass and matcha house HVALA. Taking over the space at Ann Siang Hill, dishes, the restaurant has a main dining hall and soon to come basement for drinks. Whitegrass dishes out the Japanese-French savoury menu such as Ebi Katsu Sando ($22), Prawn and Chicken Okonomiyaki ($22). Whereas tea house HVALA is in charge of the dessert and beverages. I’m personally a fan of the sweets more than savoury (which has more room for improvement.) Matcha fans don’t miss their Goma Matcha Crepe ($14). Thin matcha flavoured crepe slathered with matcha pastry cream, a dollop of HVALA’s matcha ice cream finished with goma crumble.

Another stunningly dessert will be the Matcha Goma Garden ($17). Get to try the handmade matcha warabi mochi, matcha ice cream alongside the goma nama chocolate. The goma nama is velvety smooth and rich that we were asking if they can package it for sale!

Nice place. But really pricy. Crepe was good. But the order page was a little misleading, I thought I had to order the ice cream for it to come with ice cream. In the end it came with an additional serving of ice cream which I ordered :( Drinks were around $10 a cup. If you don’t know how to appreciate tea, then maybe just get the food and desserts without the beverages.

EVERYTHING TASTED SO GOOD!! Not one dish I didn't like. My favorite was the chicken sando. Such a cool French Japanese fushion experience and staff was great too!
