★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Project always delayed year after year. Way behind schedule. No more foreign workers to complete the project due to covid. Seems like project abandoned?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Latest of its kind, after Kampung Admiralty and Punggol Oasis, Sports Hub, Tampines Hub and HeartBeat at Bedok which function as great community hubs. It will be catering to the needs of the residents around the vicinity of Sembawang and Canberra, and serving Admiralty, Woodlands, Yishun and Khatib area at extended boundaries due to the convenience of its location.
Houses a couple of swimming pools, one Hawker Centre and a Multi-Purpose Hall. There will also be polyclinic, senior care centre and one of the biggest gym training centre in SG. The latest announcement of the hub will be slated to open in Q3 2022, much anticipation by nearby residents as the town has been in developing stage since 1990s. Though there are shopping places like Sun Plaza, Sembawang Shopping Centre (SSC) and the Canberra Plaza, complemented by neighourhood coffee shops and retails stores, residents here usually go to Chong Pang at Yishun Town for cheaper local delights and marketing during weekends as coffeeshops and malls in Sembwang are normally filled. The opening of the sports and community hub, with hawker centre and various facilities will certainly bring vibrancy and better healthier life to residents of Sembawang and Canberra precinct.
Reaching here by trains or buses are easy as the hub is centrally sited or midway between Sembawang MRT and Canberra MRT, it is bounded by three roads and adjacent to four bus stops for anyone coming by bus. Walking up by foot to the highest point/peak will bring you to the new Library "Canberra House or prevously Old Admiralty House", yes, it will be the 2nd library in Sembawang, definitely welcome by residents who like to immerse themselves in reading. The other library is at level 5 of Sun Plaza, which is also a stone throw away. Each library will have different focus and await exploring by readers/residents.
Expect embracing of nature and seeing lots of greenery while walking/strolling around the community hub, as it is provided with biophilic and affinity relationship for the residents. Bringing back the certain fauna and flora of the area could be plus point to the area.
Imagine, keeping active with swimming pools, gym and sports activities within the indoor multipurpose hall while enjoying local authentic cuisine at economic price at the hawker centre at Bukit Canberra could be a bliss.
It is expected to open progressively from third quarter of 2022 as of latest news update.
Slight throwtrack half a century and a bit of history on the plot of land sited on the corner was previously Sembawang Hawker Centre and Wet Market in 1960s to 80s before its land was acquired. It was a hustle and bustle wet market and food centre in the morning and "zi zhar" place by the evening. Many stalls operated from morning till late evening catering to the needs of the Chong Pang Village nearby and workers of the Sembawang shipyards which run non-stop 365 days 24/7 since colonial time.
For those who missed the 1970s Sembawang Zi Zhar, which serves traditional zi-zhar dishes, there is now still available at Blk 505 coffeehouse, which is just across the hub/hawker centre.
Much anticipation and looking forward to the opening of the facilities and one and only one Hawker Centre at Bukit Canberra (Sembawang Integrated Hub) in Sembawang, cheers.
