I joined Bukit View Secondary School (BVSS) back in 2014 and graduated in 2017. The 4 years I spent in BVSS were unforgettable. In those 4 years in BVSS, all the teachers were very kind and were passionate to teach and guide students like myself in studies and in other areas as well to provide a holistic experience. BVSS offers an Applied Learning Programme to all Secondary 1 and 2 students, teaching them skills such as coding/ programming using arduino, building solar cars etc. This programme has sparked my interest in the field of Engineering. BVSS also offers a wide range of Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) from uniform groups to clubs and societies. I joined the Singapore Youth Flying Club which is a CCA only offered by 15 Secondary Schools in Singapore. Even after graduating from BVSS, ex-students like myself are welcomed back to provide guidance for their CCA members and to be involved in other events that the school might plan. Annual events are even planned like Homecoming and Brunch@bukitview to encourage students to come back to visit their former teachers and be more involved in school. Ever since I graduated in 2017, BVSS have seen many wonderful changes like the building of the new Joules Smart Centre and a new school field built with artificial grass. The launch of the Joules Smart Centre allows BVSS to better educate students about the importance of saving the environment. BVSS also organises an annual conference which is known as the Student Environmental Leadership Conference (SELC) to educate primary schools students about the environment. This year, BVSS also achieved its all time record amount of participants which involved over 300 students. Overall, Bukit View Secondary School is an all rounded school, educating students in all different manners to provide a holistic education.

My experience in Bukit View Secondary School was a fun and memorable one. Bukit View Secondary School is a great school with great teachers. Because of them, I was able to learn important values such as caring for others, being responsible and from my CCA NCC, I have learnt to persevere in times of hardships and work hard to achieve my goals.

My experience in this school has been a fulfilling one. The school has provided me with many opportunities to step out of my comfort zone and letting me know what my abilities are. There are many facilities that help students with their learning for example the recent launch of the JOULES Smart Centre and many other places that is conducive for learning to take place. Teachers here are also very approachable and friendly. If you ever need help with your studies they will always be glad to lend a helping hand. An example would be after school consultation sessions with the subject teacher.

Bukit View Secondary School is a very good neighbourhood school that has a very supportive environment and caring teachers that are willing to go the extra mile to coach students even beyond school hours. The school has provided many opportunities for students to learn and grow as well. The school also has a very strong PSG family with many parents working towards achieving a common goal with the school.

Now an alumni, my Bukit view journey will be the most memorable one as i met amazing teachers who open my mind and change the my perceptive on studying. My grades before i came into the school and after i graduated from Bukit View shows tremendous difference due to the school being value added. It has engaging programs which expose the students to new experiences and out of their comfort level. Such as the overseas learning journey (OSL), Combined sports camps, Horseshoe crab project and many more! Would like to recommend to students who are looking for a good neighborhood school to join Bukit View Secondary as it is one of the most underrated schools in the west.

A very enthusiastic and positive environment to be in. Bukit View has provided me with so many opportunities to develop and discover my interests and skills. I had the chance to participate in so many events such as the Student Environmental Leadership Conference to further enhance my knowledge about the environment and work with my fellow schoolmates. The teachers are very approachable and they will always be there to guide you whenever you are in doubt.

This school’s memories still linger in me till today as I keep in touch with one of the teachers as a form of network after my graduation since 2008 along with a few other alumni. So much has changed in this school in terms of academics, infrastructure etc, where I am proud to call myself a Bukit Viewan. I experienced passionate teachers and joyful classmates through my 4 years there. As a peer support leader, it was where my interpersonal skills have been groomed to more of leadership skills that I have within me today. It’s a place beyond academics as I was in Table Tennis where I learnt a new sports from scratch. I would love to re-live my secondary school days with no regrets ??

Horrible admin staff who always seem annoyed when they are asked for assistance. Timetables are planned SPECIFICALLY so that the day only ends at exactly 2pm. Would much rather skip the half-hour break and end at 130, so that we can leave to have lunch elsewhere. English consultation for the secondary 4s are held on Friday afternoons, the breaks are ridiculously long (1.5hrs), before a 1.5hr English consultation period which to be honest, is just additional lessons part of ciriculum, which completely defeats the purpose of an β€œintimate” consultation session. While I understand that the 1.5hr break is implemented to accommodate the Muslim pupils who need to go for Friday prayers, it would be much better for the rest of the cohort if English consultation is moved to another day, and replacing the consultation period on Friday for other subjects which only require selected students to attend. Like our *NEW* Vice-principal said, β€œWe have chosen to maintain our food prices at the $2.50 benchmark given by MOE”, thus food prices are not an issue in this school. Besides that, I think Bukit View Secondary School is an excellent school to enrol your child in, mainly because of the top-notch LLP programme β€œJOULES” which stands for β€œJunior OUtstanding Learners in Environmental Sustainability”. A scholarship can also be applied for by students who have a keen interest and passion for the environment.
