I rented with ZRooom/Utomedia for 6 months with a signed contract that legally ends on June 30. In mid April, I informed the rep Lucien (whom I just found out is disguised under a different name to other housemates) whom I signed the contract with, that I will not be extending the lease after June, due to the horrible hygiene of the unit from Feb - Apr (i.e. choked up sinks, garbage spill-over, and half-eaten foods around the house. See attached pictures). That's right, I tolerated it for 2 months before deciding to move. Due to the untimely move, I rented another place that put me in a difficult position - the new place required that I take over from 1 June, which means I paid for rental fees for both places, since they overlapped for a month. As soon as I signed the new lease, I informed the same rep that I would move out in early June and told him not to worry as I would clear the June rental per the contract (which I paid 2 weeks ago). I also informed him that if he could get a new tenant that can move in by early June, that would be great. On May 29, we talked face-to-face when he came to settle a new housemate. I followed up with him on the status of finding a new tenant for my room, telling him it was tough on my end financially as I paid rents to both places so it would be helpful if he can find someone to takeover soon. He said there was no guarantee. On June 3 and 6, I followed up with him again if he has found a new tenant for my room. On June 12, at 11.28PM, he requested that I handover the keys the very next day as he has found a tenant who is moving in on the 14th. I asked if the new tenant is going to pay me half a month's rental, seeing that she will take over starting the 14th. The conversation then escalated with him denying that the new tenant should pay me for the overlapping period. He then threatened to forfeit my deposit, while implying that I did not pay for my June rental (which I have already paid 2 weeks ago, and I always made sure he is well informed by sending screenshots of payments). I called him multiple times after telling him we need to clarify the above but to no avail. I suspect that he is charging the new tenant for the overlapping period (14th - 30th June), which I think is unjust. I gave him the benefit of doubt by asking him this via messages but he did not address any of them. UPDATE - 14/6: The said rep contacted me after seeing this post, and threatened me that he would take legal actions against me for writing this. I hereby declare the above is 100% truth (with mentions of his MIA being removed since he is no longer MIA). He also implied that I do not need to return my keys and keycard as he has made a police report that they are lost, so that the new tenant can move in right away. I have to use "implied" here as his English is not fantastic and when I tried to clarify, again he does not reply. UPDATE - 16/6: My replies to ZRooom / Utomedia's 16/6 2.30PM response are attached in the images. And thank you for saying I was a good tenant. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about you being a good management after this unpleasant saga :(
