Gives access to many places, but the crisscrossing escalators and spiraling stairs that props at every corner reminds me of Hogwarts, one can be easily confused to to get out of the station to the right exit.

Messy layout. Follow the signboards closely to not get lost. There are multiple entrances / exits to this station.

Dhoby Ghaut MRT station was first opened on 12th December 1987, bringing rail connectivity to Plaza Singapura located at the eastern end of the Orchard Road shopping belt. It gets its name from Dhobi Ghat, which means "washerman's place" in Hindi, in reference to people that used to wash their laundry from a clear stream in the area (now Stamford Canal) until the early 1900s. It is the first and only triple-line interchange MRT station in Singapore as of now until the opening of Outram Park and Marina Bay MRT stations on the Stage 3 of Thomson-East Coast line later in 2022. Originally on the North South MRT line, it interchanged with North East MRT line on 20 June 2003 as well as the Circle MRT line on 17 April 2010. It is also the nearest MRT station to Istana Park, Dhoby Ghaut Green, Cathay Green, The Cathay and The Istana (where the residence of the President of Singapore is located at). The bus stop near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station along Orchard Road is the terminating point for Short Trip 7B, 190A and 972A and is one of the three Circle MRT line terminuses.
