Ganesan Villas Sweets & Savouries - 48 Serangoon Rd

A small shop selling mostly south Indian sweets and savouries. Favourite desert here is the coconut candy. However, I feel this is the only desert that is better than Moghul sweet shop and I'd rather go there.

Really great staff, polite and friendly. However, got an extreme upset stomach from the curd (dahi). Not stored well I assume as saw some in the fridge and some on the counter for a dairy product.

Poor customer service Not willing to allow customers to taste products before purchasing Pricing not constant and increased in price during festive season. Items packet in the box not as reguested Customs are advised not to patronise this shop . Not willing to tell the pricing before purchasing

I wanted to buy Jalebi from this shop for my Daughter, but first I wanted to check its quality and crispness. I requested shopkeeper a tiny piece just to taste it. Shopkeeper simply denied with vague expression as if I am begging. His response was rude and quite embarrassing. Anyways I still bought jalebi and mysore pak from shop since I had promised my daughter that, I will bring it way back home from office. Quality was average, but I will never ever visit this shop again.

I can totally relate with the poor reviews for Ganesan villas. Am still in shock while I write this review. Was there to get some festive goodies and sweets. Noticed the prices of the goodies were marked up by 50% within a week. The sweets were labelled as 5 for $6 but during payment, the middle aged owner asked for $7! Didn’t want to make a scene since the whole arcade was teeming with festive shoppers. Gave him the cash and realised that he had packed the wrong sweets. Upon questioning, he broke into a fury and yelled at me that he was working the whole day in the shop. At this juncture, I was dumbfounded and clueless at his wild reaction to a customer who was simply there to buy the sweets and move on with other shopping. I requested for my money to be returned and promptly left the sweets with him. He kept on yelling and verbally abusing. Absolute worst customer service in Little India! Utter disgrace for peace loving people of Singapore and the Indian way of a treating customers in a cultured manner. Totally intolerable attitude!!! Will never ever patronise this shop again which is out to not only rip off customers but also has no basic respect to returning customers. Well done, you have set a new LOW on how to treat customers. Avoid, unless you don’t mind getting ripped off by the owner!

Found this shop when I was searching for fresh potato chips like the bakery style ones we get in India. The chips are crisp. But the chilli flavour was a disappointment as the flavour was not plain chilli and salt , it tasted like calbee hot n spicy flavour. The salted potato chips were a hit. Simply added chilli at home and cravings satisfied? P.S: Recommendations are welcome on where to find the bakery style spicy potato chips in singapore ?

Good quality jalebi and gulab jamun (real gulab flavoring which is rare!). Cashew halwa (kerala style red) was nice but barfi was a bit too oily
