Strawberry Shortcake Made with Japanese cake flour and french dairy cream, this bright and cheery looking cake fits the bill for any occasion and will certainly bring a smile to anyone's face. The cake is a fine, delicate piece, with handmade strawberry compote, fresh strawberries and luxurious mascarpone chantilly sandwiched between 2 amazingly airy and fluffy handmade genoise sponge. There was a pillow-like lightness to the overall texture, and it makes one wonder how does the filling in the centre not sink down at all. Incredibly light on the palate, you'd find yourself going back for seconds as it felt like you did not get your fill , as is the case with my brother, who isn't one to enjoy sweets on a typical day. Now, apart from Henry Charpentier and Chateraise, I know where else I can get my strawberry shortcake from! Fudge Cake Every bit decadent and rich as they appear to be, each mouthful was a sticky, fudgy goodness without the need to heat it up. All you have to do is take it out of the fridge and leave at room temperature for a couple minutes and you're good to go! Though fudgy, there's a slight crunch with every bite, from the chocolate pearls and dentelle, which helps to cut on the monotony. Special shoutout to the chocolate dentelle - a crunchy shard made from scratch with chocolate, cocoa nibs and hazelnut for that bit of bitter, earthy, nuttiness. This is a chocolate lover's dream come true (5 types of chocolate here)! Made with Belgian chocolate, the silken texture of the ganache will melt in your mouth, transforming a simple bite into a sublime adventure. Do not belittle its size as I find it challenging to finish one by myself. BBC While Basque Burnt Cheesecake may be nothing new to most of you, they certainly serve up a mean one. It may not be photogenic at all, without all the bells and whistles that usually accompanies a cake, but this cheesecake with its scorched surface can be hard to resist (and hella hard to photograph ?) Flavoured with imported vanilla (look at those vanilla specks!), this is intensely creamy, seemingly biting into melted cheese, with the texture of a cake only appearing towards the end. Made with a special blend of 4 types of cheese, the flavour profile was surprisingly light and well balanced. If you're looking for a very rich dessert, you've found it!⁣ Sea Salt Brownies It’s funny how different the brownies tastes before and after heating up. Just out from the fridge, you’d find them intensely chocolatey without being overly sweet, but I certainly needed a glass of milk to wash one down, or even better yet, topped it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream like I did to shave off some of the richness. Yet after heating up, they spot a light and soft mouthfeel, though not enough to fall apart into crumbs. The cocoa nibs thrown in provided a nice crunch element to cut on the monotony. I've always taken a liking to Sea Salt Brownies - it’s amazing how a small amount of salt can counterpoint the sugar in recipes. You barely notices its presence, but it does enhances the depth of the flavours.⁣ Assorted Scones Have previously raved about their scones (Original, Earl Grey & Figs, Double Choco Kaffir Lime) and I'm so happy I get to try it again! Seriously guys, these scones are every bit Monday morning-indulgence and I wouldn’t stop you from starting your day with it.⁣ Previously, I really enjoyed their OG flavour - there was something about the simplicity of it that really got me though this time round, I was more attracted to the Double Chocolate. Newly introduced to the menu, this Rose Strawberry Cheesecake takes their burnt cheesecake up a notch. With a layer of handmade strawberry compote and rose petals lining the top, the soft, mellow flavors of rose, tarty strawberries and cream gel together nicely and is perfect with a cup of tea. I noticed that the rose scent seemed to fade as you reached the end of the cake though, seemingly more concentrated where the compote is at. I would prefer it if it was more well spread out as I really enjoyed the floral companion!
