ISS International School - 21 Preston Rd

I've been at ISS for 6 years and I can honestly say that there are great teachers and a good education system. Nice, small and wholesome. Are the facilities and school buildings dodgy? Yes. Does climbing a bunch of stairs every morning to make a skinny boy like me "fit" help? No. Will the food at the canteen give you cancer when you're 40? Probably (Pack your own lunch) But guess what? I love it. It's a great place, with a community so tightly knit I pretty much know everyone there. The teachers can more easily manage the number of students in their class and can devote more attention if one needs extra time learning a topic, or more work from the teacher. ISS can be comparable to the back alley you played street football in during your childhood; it's grim, damp, ugly and a little bit chaotic, but at the end of the day, you loved it and wouldn't have it any other way.

It is already my daughter's 2nd year in ISS (now in Grade 2). Believe it or not, she actually tells me all the time that she likes her school a lot because they learn things in a fun way. She always has something to talk about when she gets home. I particularly chose this school because of its student to teacher ratio, which is a lot smaller compared to the other ones. With the school's individualized & focused learning, I saw my daughter improve in her reading, writing, speaking...and most of all her interest in learning.

iss is a place that student can harmoniously live in. However, the environment is quite unpleasant. Though library is great and big, the school is not willing to have a big over haul as the places student walk on is damaged and students could easily fall down cos of that. Though many parents were kind, I still does not understand what de hell the school is teaching. Grade 5 still teaching multiplication and subtraction in math? Is is hilarious!

I recommend you don't come to this school as some teachers don't even bother teaching. We pay around 40k a year for nothing, we have to buy uniforms separately and they can't fix or upgrade the school either.

ISS International School owe me more than RMB140000 in unpaid salaries and benefits from my time as a teacher at Beijing BISS International School. They are claiming that there is no connection between these two schools but they are not telling the truth as both schools are owned by the same family. Mr Elvis Tan (son in law of the founder of ISS) has been running BISS in Beijing for the last few years and it has suffered greatly under his leadership. As far as I am concerned the family and ISS are criminals and thieves. Under no circumstances should you send your children to ISS, they will more than likely steal your money.

Oh my goodness! I don’t even know where to start! This darn school steals all of the money that you’ve got in your bank account! Yet they say that they’re running out of money! They can’t even afford common school supplies that every school SHOULD have! I don’t know why I thought of applying to this school! It’s complete trash.

in the past this school was a lot different than what it was now. Prices were lower, the school environment, the teachers and the principal was all better. This school is "running" out of money. Apparently there is "no money" to pay for basic sports equipment, proper chairs and other required things needed for this school even though we pay SO much for this small, unorganised school. On top of that, a certain teacher doesn't have the proper certification to teach a subject yet they still teach that subject without any proper qualifications for that subject. This is absolutely unnaceptable considering they are teaching students when they aren't qualified to. Ridiculous. Even when certain teachers have qualifications they still don't teach properly, everything is either repeated or taken from google. The previous principal took initiative in forming a relationship with the students, but the current principal is cold, often bashes students and is never around. Seems like the head of school is doing all the work... the only thing i am waiting for is to go to the iss highschool, i hope its better than this. if you want to attend an unorganised school that charges you a fortune for its mediocre teaching, come to iss!!!!

why are my parents paying so much money if this school can’t afford anything, there’s no equipment or facilities? where is all the money going? I saw a very informative review, but it had been taken down because I heard that the school was removing negative reviews so that is why I am leaving a 4 star review
