The historic Jalan Hongshan Kaishan Temple has recently undergone major renovations. Last month, it held its 108th anniversary and the New Golden Body Consecration Ceremony of the Kaishan Saint Hou. (For details of the festival program, please refer to the advertisement.)
Kaishan Saint Hou incense originated from China
The century-old temple Kaishan Temple was built in Hongshan in the early years, commonly known as Mangosteen Garden, also known as the current site of Orange Garden. According to the senior director of the temple, the incense of the temple's main god, Kaishan Shenghou, originated from the Kaishan Shenghou Temple in Dongshan, Fujian, China. Because of its prominence, it was deeply supported by the villagers, worshipped and prayed for blessings, and the incense was extremely strong.
A hundred years ago, the villagers who came to the south to make a living, in order to pray for the holy marquis to bless the peace and to make everything go smoothly, sincerely brought the golden body and incense of the holy marquis who opened the mountain from thousands of miles. , Let everyone worship the saints and gods and Buddhas to pray for blessings. On the birthday celebrations of the gods, sacrifice and prayer ceremonies are held, performances are performed to reward the gods, and good men and women enter incense and pray for blessings. It is a lively celebration in the village.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kai San Temple is one of the unique places in Singapore were we can find old rather historical places completely intact but surrounded by the modern structures and buzzing of the modern city. It’s a somehow odd place but with a wonderful function to give patrons a few moments or minutes to divert from the city noise.
