It is a Buddhist Temple with a long history. It is the biggest Buddhist Temple in Singapore.It has a humble begining with only a single building, built on quite a big piece of land donated by a Buddhist devotee in 1921.Over the years it has undergone several renovations and upgradings.Now there many buildings and structures.The monastery is usually quiet and peaceful , only on certain special occations like every 27 th day of the lunar month, whereby many devotees will come to pray and will have a free vegetarian lunch , Vesak Day, Special prayer sessions for lunar 7th month and Chinese New Year Eve.On these days the monastery will be busy .There will be stalls selling Buddhist religious related things and stalls selling some clothings also. A very large Mahayana Buddhist temple consisting of several buildings with chanting / ceremonial halls for various devas including Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva (观世音菩萨), Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva (地藏王菩萨) and of course Sakyamuni Buddha (释迦牟尼佛). Overall it is an extremely serene and holy place for worship and Buddhist practice. Texts and scriptures are available as well. It can be very lively and crowded on special Buddhist occasions. Practitioners will be glad to know it houses a Buddhist school for Dhamma learning. As always, we should all be respectful and sincere in our learnings in holy grounds. This is no exception. May the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas bless us all! ???

Beautiful place, be sure to book your slot from before! Strictly no walk-ins allowed. Slots need to be booked at least 1 day in advance.

There is so much to see if you got the time to walk around. The staffs and monks are nice and i felt so peaceful when i was walking around the place. I would recommend to hydrate yourself if the weather is hot. Get yourself a mini fan to cool yourself down if you want to walk outside of the shaded areas.
