I & my wife were at Serangoon Garden. We saw Kota Zheng Zong Bak Kut Teh and decided to try as it looks appealing & promising, very nice vintage/classic looking decor. It's strategically placed at Serangoon Garden circus, near bus stop, just in the midst of all other happening places there (near residential, mall, f&b establishments, sports centres, food courts, etc). And when we went in, it's really a cozy & spacious place. We ordered small size (for 1 pack) of pork ribs and beancurd with herbal soup, you tiao and 1 rice as we didn't intend to eat much. To our surprise their small size is actually pretty big, the bowl is big & the portion is so generous. We've tried many famous brands of bak kut teh (in SG & some in KL), but to us this is by far the most memorable & the most delicious. They claimed that theirs is from Kota Tinggi, Malaysia. The herbal soup is excellent, thick & has a good balanced taste. The meat is tasty & tender, we love the cartilage too. The you tiao is nice too, it works well with the soup. We've got 2nd serve of the soup too, and nothing left on our bowl & plate. All in all it's worth the price, total is only $19.20. Awesome & hearty meals for two of us!!! Overall it's a memorable lunch & definitely we'll be back

Sorry herbalicious soup and fall off the bone pork ribs. A surprise find. Not the cheapest but on our visit the dishes were nice and fresh. Probably will visit it again.

Bak Kut Teh (SGD $23) @ Kota Zheng Zong Bak Kut Teh. . Starting from the humble pushcart of Mr. Pang Kow in 1980, this famed Malaysian style Bak Kut Teh hailing from Koti Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia, is also well regarded by Singaporeans. . The star is their tried-and-true, 4-decade old family recipe broth, which features no less than 18 Chinese herbs with dark soy sauce, to create the soup. Has good strength, rich with meaty earthy herbal savoury sweet flavour. . There's an assortment of chunky pork ribs, succulent pork belly, and chewy pig's stomach, all tender with meaty savoury sweet herbal flavour. . Add-ons of crisp beancurd sheets, and tender button mushrooms to complete, served in a large claypot. . The stewed preserved mustard greens are warm and soft with a light crunch, and spiced with garlic, holding robust vegetal sweet salty earthy spice flavour. . A bowl of fluffy warm white rice with grainy sweet flavour, crisp you tiao / fried dough fritters, and a warm pu'erh tea to round out a filling meal.

Lovely quaint bak kut teh place with period tables and chairs to give you that old coffeeshop ambience but in a nice cooling AC setting. We ordered the traditional herbal Bak Kut Teh which had a good representation of herbal goodness but not too overpowering nor oily. The claypot lover with spring onion and ginger was good too although I reckon it had a tad too much onion slices. The liver was not overcooked which was refreshing given that most other BKT places who serve the same dish would usually have slightly overcooked liver. Also ordered a simple kailan with oyster sauce..nothing too exceptional but yummy nonetheless. Overall Good stuff!

Used to go to the original Kota Tinggi store before Covid, definitely missed that place. This SG one has 2 locations, went to the one at Serangoon Gardens, the other one is at Holland Village. Menu and ordering was through the online system, was an easy and efficient process. Was there during weekday lunchtime, surprising no crowd. Restaurant environment was nice and clean. Had the original and the herbal one, with a vegetable and you tiao side dish. We found the taste not as good as the original Kota Tinggi store but overall a good meal at a good price point. It's a good Bak Kut Teh store, worth a try as it's something different from the usual SG black pepper version.

The restaurant was not crowded at 11am on weekend. They donโ€™t sell dry version bak kut teh. The herbal bak kut teh were ok and with strong herbal smell, the soupy on sweet side. They allow an extra serving of soup and can have a choice of different meats like ribs, loins or pork belly. The pig trotters are not delicious and have very strong flavor. The steam pork belly is very salty, it was steamed with fermented bean curd, not suitable for kids.

Restuarant have great vibes of 80s. Pork Ribs are really well seasoned. Soup based can up a level in terms of flavours. Added Rice Wine...compliment well but a tiny bit too strong for my preference. Single Person (Small) Portion is rather generous and can be sufficient for two person sharing.

Located in the heart of Serangoon Garden means the place is almost always pack with food loving folks. Hence if you drive, parking is a concern and patience is key. The place itself is clean and cosy. Staff are friendly and generally helpful. Personally I would prefer a stronger herbal taste for the Bak Kut Teh, a stronger pepper soup and a bit more vinegar and less sweet vinegar pork. But again, different folks different strokes. Recommended!!!
