Krsna's Free Meals - 16 Veerasamy Rd

I volunteer here from time to time. It's a great place to volunteer. The experience is rewarding and the people are friendly. The food is well prepared and served hot. It feels great to know that the effort you put in helped serve up to 500-1000 people a day.

The Kitchen is a free food shelter serving vegetarian Indian food. I volunteer regularly here and have been going for several times. Great to be there with other volunteers and helping more people.

Volunteering here is a very rewarding experience. It can get a bit stressful during the serving time if you are untrained due to the number of people coming in but that just goes to show how much they appreciate the food here. The regulars were quite helpful and friendly, they jumped in to assist when I was overwhelmed and were very patient in explaining .

I volunteer regularly at the kitchen and have been doing so for months. There is an amazing feeling of accomplishment and gratitude at the end of each session, because the rewards are tangible- you can see all the meals you have helped serve and prepare and you can feel how happy these meals make the recipients. In addition, it is a wonderful, warm, and fast-paced working environment, where everyone is friendly and kind to each other. The meals are also well prepared with effort and love - they make the food as if they would eat it themselves and it is very tasty.

On 19/07/2022, 12:15 hrs, the lady shown in picture when I went to buy food at noon, he spoke to me with disrespectful words. They serve food for less money than buying outside and I don't know anyone getting food from them for free. It is unethical for those who wish to serve as volunteers to behave in this way and the manner in which they have been brought up and brought up is questionable. The society that serves people like this and trust in it also becomes questionable. I consider this to be an unnecessary service please close it if possible otherwise treat the visitors with respect. Will not go there again! Thanks for the great experience given to me!!

I am a volunteer there for many years, watching Krishna's Free Meals grow from nothing to serving so many people. Formerly they were known as Krishna's Kitchen. They serve from 500 to 2000 pax daily with countable volunteers to many. The food is nice. I will omit the spicy dish if I don't feel like having them on that day. It is busy here, busy there, forever busy because there are so much to do. Happy to help and volunteer here because I can meet new people and very fun. New volunteers not familiar what to do and after using chopping board and knives they mix with the clean etc. It's a community service so everyone come together to help one another is a nice feeling. I salute Krishna's Free Meals for doing so much and they give their all very sincerely. Yes, emotions sometimes escalate when it's overwhelming but that doesn't bother me as it is human. I am amazed that Krishna's Free Meals not only give food but fruits and goodies too?. Keep up the good job. It's not easy but do what you can. I will come and help whenever time permits. Continue the noble work. Comment is easy but if everyone from the unhappy comment will give a helping hand instead to make it better, that would be more positive change in helping out Krishna's Free Meals.

I love willing hearts and what it stands for. Signed up to join through giving.SG last month (March 22) as mainly due to this is vegetarian kitchen and no alliums! When I saw it and I so happy there are soup kitchen where provide vegetarian food to the needy. I must say on the first day when I joined as new comer, I was completely blown away with the actions pack required for the breakfast slot. The workers already started coming in to collect the meal since 6am. So everything need to be fast and ready, so that’s do not waste the workers waiting time. I was upset with myself for the first 2 days because the speed or the portion of the food I’m packing are not up to standard ‘weight’ and make my teammate to re-pack the whole which on top of the time. I’m felt so bad. I understand the reason behind where the food portion need to be right - not too much for the worker (food waste) or not too less (no enough for them too). Everything need to be right, I’m thankful that they trusted me again and again for the practice until get it right,. Im up for the challenges and came back again, and again… Then end up, instead of having good holiday or lying in my couch - I’m spend my annual 2 weeks leave (Little India excursion) in this place, and come back time to time when they asked for support for specific day. Met fun people, crazy people, some OCD people ? But this is also the reason the world is so beautiful, differences type of people together… also and given me a chance to train myself to be a better person. What I really like, this might be a tough place (action pack) however compare to the Krsna founders who started this place, I guess nothing is comparable to the challenges they faced for the fund, the day to day operations, resources to support all events…that’s need a lot of big (strong) heart to deal with all these topics and find solutions. Also, Great team of kind heart people volunteering their time and efforts for others benefit. Happy to join the volunteer service there. Very fulfilling experience. Kudos to the love and bringing the world together❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

A place where you could contribute your time, skills and money to society. A place where our immigrant workers could get good quality nice vegetarian meals for their breakfast and lunch. Kudos to the daily dedication given by the founders & kitchen staffs who worked from 4am as well as Volunteers standby from 6am.
