Kwong Shin Optical - 231 Bain St

I was looking for a good optician as I had been prescribed a few times for contacts and end up, my eyes still blurry and it was getting frustrating for me. I chanced upon Kwong Shin through Google as I happen to be nearby and from the time I check in till getting a check, it wasn’t too long a wait. Also, the lady who helped with The Eye check was very patient and helpful. She didn’t rush through the process and was making sure all went well before she made the final prescription for my eyes. I had been wearing the contact lens a few days and finally my eyes don’t feel as blurry as it was. It’s been a great relief for me and very thankful for their professional help and assistance. Thank you!

My wife and I had our first pair of progressive/transition glasses made at this long established optical shop about a few months back. Despite both of us having been through many optical shops for the past few decades, we were very pleased with the much better service given to us at this shop. The service staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The optometrist who attended to us was also very professional and patient. I am very appreciative to the friendly boss of the shop, Ms Annie. She was very helpful and understanding in quickly resolving my problem with my newly made lenses. Many thanks again for a very pleasant and memorable experience . Highly recommended!!! Very poor service provided by KS staff - an aunty with pink spec. Awful experience. We asked her what’s the difference between lenses, she asked us to google ourselves. She said “Aiya you all not professional in lenses you all don’t understand one” KS should improve their customer service and also enhance their staff knowledge as well as attitude.

I have just came back from the optician. Rachel was very professional & knowledgeable. I had an eye concern & she was able to explain clearly what was happening. The shop is always full every time I go for an appointment. To be honest with you, this optician is so much better than the franchise optician chain that you see in shopping mall. In terms of customer service, professionalism, knowledge, pricing, I would choose Kwong Shin over franchise stores.

My first visit to Kwong Shin and left really impressed by the service and professionalism of the staff. I'd always seen the shop packed with customers and did not know that I had to make an appointment before I went. However, staff still accommodated me and did not rush with the check-up or selection of frames. The optometrist named Rachel was extremely patient and took the time to explain and answer all my questions. The check-up was thorough like those done in the hospitals. No hard-sell from any staff, they were very honest in their recommendations. Prices were very reasonable and they had a good selection of frames. Kwong Shin Optical has been in the business for 41 years and the shop is still packed for a good reason. I will go to Kwong Shin for all my optical needs henceforth. Highly recommended!

I've been a customer for 42 years since I was in Primary School. Now, my kids also go to them for all their optical needs. Mr Lam and Annie together with their dedicated and long-serving team take care of us very well. Nowhere else I'd go.

They were once, a long time ago, attentive, courteous, and professional. Then their reputation solidified, the old boss retired, and left his wife in charge. Things have gone downhill since. They've really gotten too successful for their own good, so much so that they disparage loyal customers for only getting lenses done without a frame, or for not picking an expensive enough frame. The lady boss once told me that frame alignment was from the bottom of the frame, and not the top across the eyebrows, can you believe that? Some days they even forget their manners and won't invite aging customers to have a seat. It is deplorable how much standards have slipped, and it's especially galling how they still believe they're the best. Sorry Kwong Shin, you're not. No longer. Since your business is so good, you probably don't need mine anymore! I for one, am happy to take my business to Owndays and get my glasses done within the hour, for much much less than the hundreds of dollars you'd like me to spend!

I pass their shop very often because my office is just next door. But i never thought of getting my glasses from them until i saw an article about them on social media. A lot of good positive reviews and it intrigue me to try, coincidentally it's time for me to change glasses. And it was a very pleasant experience. The optician and the auntie owner were detailed oriented and making sure the work was done carefully. It was my first time seeing there were long queue at an optic shop. But it's understandable because of how they work very carefully. My new glasses are perfect. Thank you. Highly recommended.
