MapleBear Kovan - 45 Jln Songket

My son has been in the school for 1.5 years and I have seen him bloom at the school. I have always wanted my kids to goto schools with a house like feel and Maplebear absolutely fits the bill. I was impressed with the thoughtful layout of the school along with the state of the art facilities it provided. What is uniquely great also about the school is the leadership team (esp. Myron Tay) who are as candid and transparent as they can possibly be. They have the child's, parent's interest in the forefront always while assumingly taking good care of the teaching and support staff. On the currciculum, I feel they still have some way to go to get it perfect but are progressing in the right direction and at time I do feel the events and group activities can get tad chaotic. But that is also part of the charm of the place and it feels like family! All the very best to the Maplebear family and the organisation!

Kwai Laoshi is very nurturing and is able to engage the kids’ interest in Chinese. My boy comes home excited telling me what Laoshi taught him …beyond 听写….about the Great Wall of China, inventions, natural calamities, etc. He even asked to bring him to China!

I highly recommend Maplebear Kovan as the choice preschool for your little one! I narrowed my choice to this preschool after surveying a few in the northeast vicinity and these are the reasons why: 1) *Open-concept classrooms where spaces are divided by shelves and not walls.* I liked that parents and teachers could take a quick glance in the classroom to see what was happening. Even the teacher from the next class knows my child by name!Also appreciated the fact that the school grounds are not that huge and extensive such that logistically it becomes a bit more challenging to manage with so many classes and children. Would describe it as a cozy corner terrace house with a vegetable garden and lovely playground for lots of outdoor play and vitamin D! 2) *Human connections are built, not transactional relationships.* When I had visited another top preschool, while the entire experience went well (Teachers seemed fine and children were going about the motion) I found something lacking - the human touch. It seemed more like a well run corporation rather than a school sincere in cultivating the lives of our little ones. My experience was not limited to just the physical visit, but the post-visit follow ups too. At Maplebear Kovan, I’ve seen how my child has grown from a shy 18mth old to be a chatty toddler, not just under the care of class Teachers but even under the principal Ms Yan Ping. My child also knows/and greets the cooking Aunty (Aunty Aw) and cleaning Aunty (Aunty Alice) in the mornings and is clear how they help to support the running of the school. 3) *Positive environment breeds happy, lively and chatty children* Overall, while I do like “hardware” of the school - extensive curriculum including enrichment classes like music, Chinese speech & drama and sports time; and bright open spaces including a plant/herb garden and playground), I cannot deny it is the “software” aspects that has ticked the right boxes for me. The most important element to me lies in a founder committed to nurturing young children (speak to Myron, and you will know what I am referring to), passionate and hands-on principal (Ms. Yan Ping) who has personally helped my own child adjust to school in the early months and finally to the team of loving, patient dedicated Teachers (王老师，Lina 老师, Teacher Kai) who are not only close to my child but have taken such good care of my child. They have also taken initiative to update me on my child’s developmental progress/milestones on a regular basis (some Teachers do that, but in a cursory manner) With all these positive factors, it’s no wonder the school is filled with such lively and happy children. Of course there is the occasional crying especially at drop off, but that is perfectly normal for 2 year olds =) To any parent looking for a preschool, do your research, head down to the school, study the environment, speak to Teachers and observe the children. You will get more answers than what you are looking for!

We are impressed with how the teachers engaged the students to learn about phonics and mandarin effortlessly! My daughter knows all the alphabets and their sounds before she’s even 3.5 years old. We can’t speak mandarin now if we don’t want her to hear what we are talking about as she understands it now ?. When we are practicing writing Chinese characters at home, we say out the strokes to get her to write out the characters herself as what the school teacher has taught them. MapleBear Kovan really live up to the accolades of being one of the top bilingual childcare centre?? Teachers in the school are familiar with all the children and are well taken care of by them. ❤️

It is sad to withdraw from Maple Bear Kovan. Our younger daughter stayed here for more than 1.5 years since we came to Singapore. There are several things we love about it: 1. MapleBear is a big educational institute with schools in different districts. Every year they had big events that all gathered together from different schools. It's fun and very inspiring. 2. Great education always comes with great teachers. I like the teachers in MapleBear Kovan as they are always patient and encouraging. Their attention to details will surprise you when you see the reports of your kids. They do understand your kids from heart. 3. The teachers have a very strong bindings to the kids. My daughter changed her class once, therefore she had the chance to meet different teachers. She talks about them all the time and you can tell how she enjoys her time with the teachers from her words. 4. The environment is open and safe. MapleBear Kovan is at a great location in a very quiet neighborhood. It's not in a building that kids take elevators to a closed room to stay for a whole day. They have outdoor areas just in their backyard and front yard. It's very safe as it's still inside their structure but as open as a park. To be honest, I really like MapleBear Kovan. The only reason we withdrew our daughter is because she will need to go to another school with her older sister. Wish the best to MapleBear Kovan. Thanks for taking care of our baby with so much care and love.

My daughter had been such a fussy eater but upon enrolment, picked up excellent eating habits. School curriculum and the teachers are nurturing and encouraging, such that my shy kid blossomed into a confident and bilingually eloquent little girl. The management goes above and beyond to raise our children together, and it was particularly evident during the recent covid situation. They put in so much effort to stay open for children of essential workers and also crafted HBL lessons at very short notice. Definitely a great experience!

With a bit of trepidation and a whole lot of trust on the school, I had enrolled my 4 year old for a full-day programme to MapleBear Kovan last year. Everyday my son came home and said he had a lot of fun in school. What else can I ask for as a parent if my child thinks learning is fun?! The teachers are very friendly, reliable and responsive and so is the Principal Ms. Yan Ping. The variety of activities are really engaging and my son has learnt a lot from coach Titus. He loves football! I will highly recommend this preschool to anyone living in the vicinity of Kovan.

my daughter spent her preschool years here and met the best chinese teacher ever. the other staff of the school are also very friendly and professional and made me feel at ease as a parent letting my kids spend long hours there. it’s like her second home out of home
