NJ Studio

My daughter is a student with Ms Nabillah (Principal & owner of NJ Studio) and with her teaching my daughter has improved in her piano playing by leaps and bounds! She first started with Nabillah when she was in Primary 3 or 4, and when she was in her PSLE year we used her piano talent (improved under Ms Nabillah) and enrolled her into a school via the Direct School Admission (DSA) under the Music Enrichment Programme (MEP). The studio itself is very cosy and has a waiting area for parents, and the piano she uses for teaching is a top grade piano, I think it is a Steinway. I don't know of other studios where you can get to play on a Steinway at the competitive prices that Ms Nabillah offers her students! As a parent I cannot be happier with the learning experience and coaching that Ms Nabillah provides my daughter. We will definitely continue to engage her as a piano teacher until the end of my daughter's journey in piano playing and learning, possible Grade 8 or Diploma ABRSM.

I strongly recommend NJ Studio and the piano teacher Nabillah. When we relocated to Singapore two years ago, I was struggling in finding a good piano teacher for my 15-years-old daughter who had been learning piano for a few years. Luckily my friend introduced Nabillah to me. Since then, Vanessa has been very much enjoyed learning from Nabillah at NJ Studio and continued to pursue excellence in both music theory and piano performance. Nabillah is not only a professional musician but also an enthusiastic music educator. She is very proficient in stimulating the learning interests of students by making friends with them. She taught musical knowledge and skills, but more importantly, she knows how to engage the kids to enjoy the beauty of music, which turns into the self-motivation of proactive learning. Vanessa used to be reluctant to learn piano, but since we met Nabillah, everything changed. Piano has become part of her life and I see she really enjoys that. Nabillah is not just a music teacher of my daughter, but a lifetime friend of our family who brings encouragement, compassion and laughs into our life. Located at The Yards @ Joo Chiat, NJ Studio is a cozy place for music lovers, from beginner to advanced level. I would say, not every studio would have Steinway piano for junior learners, but NJ Studio does. While your kid is learning at the studio, you can enjoy yourself watching their interaction or simply having a coffee at the Brewing Ground downstairs.

My 6yo girl started her first formal piano lessons with NJ Studio almost a year ago because I prefer her to have a one-to-one lesson instead of a whole class of students. But NJ Studio offers MORE than just that! The teachers adjust their lessons based on my girl's receptiveness and interest. Having no music background at all, I left everything to the teachers to do their magic. Week by week, my girl eargerly taught me instead! And hey, I can tell you what's a base or a treble clef and read the notes! Even the books they use for preschoolers are so much fun to look at. If you're looking for piano lessons for your child (or even for yourself), look no further. NJ Studio has a quaint beautiful boutique space in the East that welcomes everyone. Lessons are not strictly an hour - sometimes we get a 90 minute lesson because the teachers really want my girl to hone her skills. We placed our girl with the Maestro herself, Nabilah, because we want our girl to be inspired by Nabillah. Nabillah's been nothing but a joy to have. She answers my queries at time of the day - even the silliest questions about my girl's piano practice (because you know, I can't tell if my girl's playing it correctly). Now, that you definitely won't get in a "branded" group class setting, can you? So piano lessons? Go NJ Studio!

Nabillah is an extremely engaging music educator who takes pride in grooming her students. She captures my daughter's attention every session with well curated narrative teaching and making sure that every session is interesting and fun. Even on the more difficult theory, she is able to illustrate with something that the kids can relate to. She truly believes in building the fundamental right and strong, and ensure that my daughter can play well through love, passion and ability to read and understand the piano notes well. Due to this, within 2 years, my daughter had scored distinction in both grade 3 and 5 and was well trained by her for competition in just short period. She is also a good mentor to her, on guidance beyond music. Now my boy 4+ years old has started this journey with her, and just few sessions, I can see that he is enjoying himself and looking forward to every lesson. Definitely a go-to teacher if you want your kids to excel in their music journey.
