Palelai Buddhist Temple - 49 Bedok Walk

Came a few times, long ago din come and there's a new building in front of maingate.

Thai temples in Singapore are quiet and peaceful, suitable for meditating and making merit.

Like the sombre and quietness, frequent this temple to pray for blessing.

Came here to pray with my friends, place is quiet, no crowds when I was here. ??????

Do note that the Bhante's blessing is only available after lunch time for Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday??

It's a nice 'wat:Thai for monastery,' founding monk came to Singapore in 1960, they moved around three times before coming to Bedok and acquiring the current place we call Palelai Buddhist Temple. Has daily morning and evening chanting using pāḷi liturgy open to the public. The eating times are 7.00am 9.30am and 11.00am in which faithful laypeople have the opportunity to come and make offerings. The monks go on alms round everyday to differing apartment blocks as the lineage comes from the Thai forest tradition there is 'tudong' also or periodic wandering. The Dhamma/dāna hall is used regularly by other Buddhist groups for Dhamma talks, and the monastery itself has ordination programs once a year for temporary monks and sister monasteries in Johor Malaysia and the North of Thailand under the guidance of a local Singaporian monk named Ajahn Keng.

It has grown so big over the years. Always good to interact with the volunteers and the monks there because they are so sincere in their practice. The place also exudes a sense of calmness and charm.

Wonderful Thai temple. Meditation hall upstairs. Main shrine room downstairs. Resident Theravada monks. Meditation classes. Stunning stone murals of the Buddha's life and teachings.Truly beautiful, peaceful place for practice!
