This prawn noodle is passable but not the 4 star most people rate it to be. Soup lacks the flavour one is used to in more highly rated establishments. The chilli is however spicy which I like

I would give 3.5stars but ok lah round off to 4stars. Located in a quiet coffeeshop, there were some good reviews and decided to check it out. It is good but I had expected something more. Chilli packs a lot punch. At best, the soup was very ordinary.

Nostalgic tasting prawn noodle, with a spicy kick to it. Not the richest nor tastiest bowl of dry prawn noodle I ever eaten. However, still decent enough. Mainly asking a spoon or two pork lard... I think ?

Discovered another Gem under a HDB block that serves amazing Prawn noodle. Located in a coffeeshop at 44A Bendemeer Rd. This stall does not have a specific name to it. Prawn noodle starts from SGD$3.50 onward. They sell both the dry and soup version. I had the dried one, ordered the combo of yellow noodle and beehoon. Bowl of noodle came with prawn slices, pork ribs, pork slices as well as pork skin. The noodle was drenched in generous amount of Chilli sauce. Love their soup as well but slightly more on the peppery side. Do go early if you are keen to try.

Came to this stall in Bendemeer after reading some nice reviews online. Very nice old school traditional prawn noodle, similar to 545 Whampo prawn noodle. Really brings me back to my younger days after the 1st few sips of the soup. Ordered dry mee Kia and comes with the right mix of chilli and fresh prawns with the right size of meat slices. It is even better than some highly reviewed prawn noodle stalls in many parts of Singapore that I tried. Especially those so called Big Prawn noodles that charge more than $10. Should have ask for more chilli and pork lard next time to elevate the taste further. Will be back for sure.

Delicious prawn mee! In a quiet coffeeshop in the bendemeer estate. I would not have known about it until someone told me. Chilli really good, not spicy kind and even those who can only take abit would be able to handle it without issue. I added chilli as I love my chillis. Added pig skin to my bowl of pork ribs and prawns combination. Pig skin super tender. Mix it well with the chilli for elevated taste. Asked for more pork lards as well cos' why not right? This is a $6 portion. Coffeeshop is about 10mins walk from Boon Keng Mrt station.

This prawn mee is known as the Can Eat! Hawker Food Facebook group HQ. Admin and Founder of the group Andrew Tang swears by it, and it is still the banner picture of the group. Quite a few food bloggers follow through and followed along the hype. Finally I simply have to drop by and try it. I am going to be honest. To me it is merely a 3 star experience. I don't hate it but neither do I liked it. Will I come back? Nope. We ordered both the dry and soup prawn mee. On menu No.1 dry Mee pok and no.2 soup kway teow and yellow noodles. Difference is no. 1 has pork ribs and pig skin added. Also I noticed prices has increased compared to those posted but anyhow I am not complaining. No.1 $5 and No. 2 $4. The dishes on arrival, I noticed there isn't much of a whiff of fragrance, though visibly there's lard bit on top. We can smell the heady prawn soup but no lard oil or shallot oil fragrance at all lauded by the hype groupies. Quick stir and Tuck in. Not much of Hae Bee or Chilli, Lard, Shallot fragrance, a bit of spice, and Mee pok was quite limp, a bit overcooked. Pork Ribs were tender and fall off the bones but bland in flavour, three pinky size prawns halves crunchy but again quite bland. 3 small squares of Pig skin chewy, fish cake slices normal, lastly lean meat slices dry and too tough. Most importantly the soup. Heady fried prawn head flavours, light on the pork bone notes, lightly smoky and a bit too diluted in my opinion. My partner noted the kway teow and yellow noodles were also overcooked, otherwise everything else is similar to my findings. Service is friendly, stall and ambience looks and feel clean. But on overall I do not think this is a superb tasting prawn mee or a value meal. Yes I agree individual taste buds may be subjective. My partner and I both felt this prawn mee is just a normal bowl of noodles, nothing out of the ordinary at all. On a week day's early lunch at 1130am, this sleepy coffee shop has like 6 tables of eaters that I just counted, 1 red bowl, 3 green and 3 white bowls. Green the prawn mee, white is another stall's Noodle and red is another's fish soup. Fairly balanced take up ratios even among the offerings. There is no queue at any of the stalls. Try comparing the situation to any other highly hyped stalls like Airport Road Noodles, Hong Lim Noodles or Amoy Street noodles and see how long is the queue any weekday lunch time for your serving. So.. Over Hyped much? Absolutely.
