It’s ok for birthday cakes

The cake is nice as the sweetness is just nice. I choose a chestnut cake (show in photo). Pricey but worth it if you are cake lover. My 3 stars given because I am not a cake lover non a cake hater so this is a fair rating. Overall: Neutral Cake design: Neutral Cream: sweetness is average sweet. Sponge: soft and loose.

This branch was disappointing as the cake was not fresh at all.After checking with the seller 2 times about the freshness she said yes its fresh. Compared to the price the quality should match the standards.

Their chocolate cake is one of my favourites in town. Rich, creamy, and with a crispy base. Staff were friendly and attended to me quickly. Well worth the price. Unfortunately they don't offer dine in.

I bought a box of five (05) macarons from a Rive Gauche outlet at Suntec City, yesterday afternoon (13 April). It was a birthday gift. There was a thin, bespectacled with short greying hair, matured and serious looking service staff solo, at the Rive Gauche outlet, at that time. After making my selection of macarons, the elderly service staff packed them. However, I noticed that she was careless about presentation and had poor colour coordination when packing the different coloured macarons. So, I suggested to her the placement of coloured macarons instead. I also noticed that out of the five macarons, some were lying down, while others were standing up in their positions. How am I going to present this to the birthday friend with such inconsistency and untidiness?!?! Further, this sloppy attitude female elderly service staff also looked annoyed and what happened next, was her unbashful display of tantrums. She literally threw and re-arranged the macarons in a disgruntled manner!!! She even told me off by saying that re-arranging the macarons is hard for her to do... I saw that she was using a tong but the manner that she was handling the macarons was wrong because she does not care about the product. Why? I am a trained baker and was also trained in service too! TWICE, I cautioned her : "Can you be more gentle with the macarons?" Wow! I have rarely seen such a badly behaved and totally unprofessional service staff, who is not a young female but an elderly woman, sour face and exhibited such poor behaviour to their customers!!! Thank goodness during the midst of witnessing her unhappiness and brutal treatment of rearranging the five macarons, her younger female colleague returned to the outlet and volunteered to re-arranged for her! When finished, the macarons were in alignment and beautifully coordinated! Customer satisfaction is key! Rive Gauche Outlet at Suntec City - Best to send your spoilt and mature service staff for more training. Better still, place her "back of house", as she is not customer friendly nor understand what good service means!!! How disgraceful!!! ?☹????

9 Jul 2021 - takeaway during Post Circuit Breaker Phase 3(Heightened Alert). 3 stars. Bought the strawberry shortcake and a dark chocolate macaron. Strawberries in the shortcake didn't taste good - funky sourish taste, and ruined the experience of eating the cake for me even though the sponge was light and not too sweet and the cream was fresh. Cake is definitely over-priced. Macaron shell was nice, crisp and slightly chewy but the ganache flavour wasn't really dark chocolate, tasted more like hazelnut.
