Has been working with Jeff from Space Atelier on previous condo project and current landed project. His dedication, responsibility and patience have been greatly appreciated throughout the period from brainstorming, draft design, detailed design, execution of renovation, completion of project and lastly during the warranty period. Communication with him is straight to the point and honest without any hidden agenda, and the charges including variation orders are all well written and discussed. With his wide range of knowledge in design and structural requirement, his team is able to provide us a beautiful place for us that we proudly called our home.

We met up with Jeff by word of mouth from my colleague/friend. We signed up with Jeff (and Annie), after few chats and a face to face meet up. Jeff understands our real need and provided professional yet pragmatic advices. Some of the advices are even down to earth, saves us some unnecessary spending. It was ultimately meeting/close to our budget after a series of detailed and thorough in depth reviewing. Overall workmanship is good, though tiling I believe can be better. Some of the minor mistakes and hiccups were owned up without question. Overall coordination is near perfect especially in the midst of a series of COVID-19 Circuit Breaker and Heightened Alert which caused the reno lasted for 4 months. A trustworthy ID and a pleasant experience with Jeff.

Throughout the entire design stage, he was patient in advising and letting us see through almost all available materials he had as we were rather indecisive and spoilt for choices and we were always afraid on missing out on choosing a better one. Never once did he exude any impatience even though the choosing of materials had wreck up the schedule and was dragged longer than expected. Thackeray was able to plan and workaround the schedule well with his contractors to ensure everything ran smoothly. Even as Covid sets in, he was able to maintain the price and still manage the schedule well within our budget and timeline. His attention to details and experience allowed us to avoid many impractical renovation pitfalls and most importantly, he gave many ideas for achieving the same look with cheaper alternatives without compromises on the quality. Many design and materials that we wanted was not easily found in Singapore, Thackeray came up with ideas and sourced many places to match what we want. From cabinet design to dry laying of 1.8m tiles, every part of the house is painstakingly arranged and monitored closely by him to ensure every print on the tiles and laminate matches to his expectation. He is someone that will go the extra mile even at his own expenses to ensure that we get the best for what we are paying. Overall, we are very happy with his professionalism, passion for design and workmanship. His project references says it all. 100% highly recommended!

Feel comfortable when we first met Lesley, our interior designer. She is very attentive to our requirements and made very prompt replies whenever we have queries. She is proactive to solving any on-site issues during the renovation phase and even go the extra mile to liaise with our suppliers directly. Always ready to propose solutions when issues arises and made sketches that’s easy for us to understand. My kids like her too! Workmanship is superb! Outcome is nearly 99% like the 3D design. On time delivery even during covid-19 period. Smooth handover after renovation. Highly recommended!! ???

"Excellent work from ID Alex Eh" My family and I would like to thank Alex for his wonderful renovation work on our condominium.. Alex worked very closely with us over the last 2 months to discuss our preferences and tirelessly seeing to our requests. We appreciated that Alex shared and suggested ideas without being imposing. No detail was too small for him; from the height of the cabinets, to maximizing usage of space. Alex is very responsive to queries and will patiently explain the concept of his design layout. He also went the extra mile as he catered to corrections in changes of layout and insertion of additional renovation work. Most importantly he was able to meet our timeline during the manpower crunch and numerous restrictions imposed during this COVID period. He was able to plan the renovations to ensure the handover was timely despite restrictions imposed by MCST. After renovation, Alex was able to help us with the minor touch up work and rectification swiftly. It was such a wonderful experience working with him and we will not hesitate to recommend him to our family and friends.

I chanced upon some projects under Space Atelier on Qanvast and really liked its style. So, I reached out to them and was assigned to Mr Thackeray who is our ID. Thackeray is very detailed, meticulous & professional in the entire course of our renovation project. He spent hours during each consultation session to patiently listen to our requirements & preference and then provide his own opinion & ideas. Even before we confirmed his engagement, he was very willing to share his ideas and this was why I decided to go with him. He was able to accommodate most of our requests (unless its impractical) and every stage of work was completed on time. Post renovation touch ups requests were also attended to very promptly. No complaints on workmanship. Definitely a good experience and highly recommended !

Same as mustbeyinjie, I also would also like to highlight the standards and workmanship of their carpenters. Back in November 2019 I have shortlisted either Space Atelier or Artrend with me having engaged the latter on 2 prior occasions and was very pleased with their work. However Space Atelier managed to give me a quotation 1 week earlier than Artrend and therefore I decided to engage their services to renovate my 2 storey condo. In March 2020 the reno was 90% completed and we managed to move in 2 days before the lockdown. With the lockdown I understood that the carpenters were unable to travel to Singapore to finish up the installation of cupboard doors and 1 of the toilet sinks and also touching up some minor defects. Upon moving in I had the time to check for defects and found many which in my opinion the carpenters were “trying their luck to siam”. Defects such as a drawer which had been accidentally sawed “Pia Qiu”, misaligned cabinet doors, sliding doors for clothes cabinet kept getting misaligned from the tracks due to it being not deep enough and kept rolling over the long sleeves from my office shirts, cabinets that were unable to fit in my 2 safe despite me giving them the dimensions prior (eventually the movers were able to detach the door and put in the safe as the hinges of the cabinet door were blocking the way but this caused the safe to be unable to open fully and being unable to access the drawer compartments). While most of the defects were corrected, the cabinet with the safe and clothes cabinet were not as by then I was already quite fed up and just wanted the house to be handed over asap which was done so in November 2020. Next onto the designer; while he was extremely friendly and was always willing to meet us last minute, I could somehow feel that he was out of his depth. Not much ideas were given for my master bedroom and things that he promised (such as a doing a small partition to prevent the glare when the LED light is on in my office) were undelivered. I had also instructed him to make my gaming room soundproof with no expense to be spared; I suggested to him using concrete walls but he suggested using rockwool and gypsum boards instead. Only after completion, I realised that the room was only around 70% soundproof and after given insights by external soundproof specialists that concrete walls would have been the preferred option for soundproofing but by then it was already too late. Perhaps with a wee bit more experience and with a change to a more reputable or established company I will consider his services in the future due to his friendly demeanour. I have held off about writing this review for a long time but after reading mustbeyingjie’s review I totally agree with him/her and felt it right to tell about my experience as well. 2 Years have passed and I have a cupboard door which has dropped off and another kitchen cabinet door about to drop off as well. Avoid like the plague. Response: 1) The fault with the clothes cabinet has been highlighted to the ID since October 2020. 2) Yes the cabinet door was removed by me as 2 out of 3 hinges have already become lose and dropped. I am not risking it dropping on my kid as the cupboard is in his room. I have tried screwing it back but the screw just kept turning and unable to stay secure. 3) The faulty cabinet was highlighted to the ID on 25 Oct 2021.

I engaged Space Atelier after doing a blind test on Qanvast where I basically just bookmarked renovation photos I liked in my dashboard. At the end of this blind test, I found out that a lot of the renovation photos I liked were done by Space Atelier. I engaged a total of 3 ID firms for renovation quotation and decided to go with Space Atelier ID Lesley Ang even though the quote was the highest out of the 3. Below were my reasons: 1. Lesley was the most detailed ID. She came up with a proposed floor plan AND ceiling plan complete with the correct scale. The other 2 IDs didn’t have a ceiling plan or have a scale in the proposed floor plan - I didn’t know if their measurements were to scale. 2. Space Atelier’s quote prepared by Lesley was the most comprehensive. Whatever requirements I gave were clearly reflected on the quotation, and Lesley even included items which I didn’t know were needed to achieve a great end result (e.g. floor polishing). Therefore I believed that there will be minimal hidden cost and I wouldn’t blow my renovation budget by too much. Looking back, the additional costs were indeed due to new requirements I gave after signing the original quotation, so you can be assured that Space Atelier/Lesley will be transparent with the renovation cost if you provide proper requirements early on. 3. I feel I can jive well with Lesley. I believe it’s important to find an ID that can communicate well and ask the right questions to understand the client’s requirements. I have no doubt Lesley has delivered in those aspects as she responded promptly to my queries, even after completion of renovation for touch ups etc. My renovation was done while there were some covid-19 restrictions, so delays were inevitable (and understandable). However Lesley worked hard to mitigate them and overall delays were manageable. Overall, my home renovation process went smoothly without any drama and I am very satisfied with the end results. I highly recommend engaging Space Atelier / ID Lesley Ang for your house renovation.
