★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Penang Hokkien Mee is authentic. The lady running it is from Penang. The soup tastes like Penang Hokkien Mee should, the right balance, the soup is a rich flavorful stock, the only thing that's different is the size of prawns are bigger than in Penang (that's not a complaint).

The “zhar Cai png” stall is impressive with their wide range of dishes beautifully displayed.
Equipped with a smoking corner.
Ordered curry chicken noodle $3.50 which turns out pretty good for me except it was slightly diluted.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My usual coffeeshop for a quick and cheap meal. the zichar, hokkien mee, bak chor mee and carrot cake are all pretty good. most people know 844 coffeeshop for jin hock zichar but a special mention for the hokkien mee, flavourful gravy paired with super spicy chilli. didn't know they got on Straits Times until i took a closer look. The new western stall has a big menu but haven't tried, not sure if it's good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ OVERPRICED CAIFAN! Charged us $2.50 for a packet of tofu+sausage potato. Ordered a second packet with the same ingredients plus one mid-sized chicken chop and got charged $5.50 for that packet. So one piece of chicken for $3?
