I lived here as an A*STAR scholar from the day it first opened back in 2012 to the end of 2015. It was one of the best places that I have lived in. At that time, many of my scholar friends and I were very appreciative of the facilities and the support of the mentors there. Sure it might be hot at times because there were no AC and the food wasn't always the best. However, we were young and away from home, and we had full financial support from MOE. A place like SA Hall was all we needed. I made many great memories and long-lasting friendships here. I'm not sure what have changed as many years went by but to me, it's a great place to live.

I am a boarder who stays in SAH for around 6 months now, the thing that I like about this hostel is that there are more people who stays here than in my last hall, this is also means there are more students from more schools stays here. This gives me the opportunity to know more people and have more friends. The hall wifi is also quite good, although the speed is not the best, most of the time it is 20Mbps, they do not block game servers, so that you can play game without using your own data. The food is provided and the portion is enough for me, but we are currently changing our caterer, so we still do not know how is the food. One setback for the hostel for me is that there is no aircon in the rooms. The study room and computer room has aircon and we can study there, but when we are sleeping in our room, we only have ceiling fan. The room is relatively larger than my room in my last boarding school. We have a shared shower here, so there is no washroom inside the rooms. Overall, I think that living is a hostel is fun, of course there are some struggle in living alone away from your parents.

Omg I’m living here now and they allow male teachers to go inside female dorms. Foreign workers coming into girls dorm randomly. My friend was sick in hostel and she finally fell asleep in the morning after a night of tossing and turning. She sensed someone standing next to her and it was a foreign worker (male) doing an electricity check. The hall master (also male) was also at the door. They did not wake her up. Same thing happened to my room except without hall master and they woke all 3 of us up before coming in. Same roommate also said that during her sec4 year, she was alone and sleeping in the room and woke up to foreign workers.

My expectations were low, but holy fudge they somehow got lower. I'm not a hard person to please, too.

Worst laundry room service ever. Dryers are really unreliable, one of them did not work properly for months, no one come to fix. Wasted coins every time doing laundry. 1 reliable dryer serving 50+ people is really unacceptable.

The living quality is neglected by those who are in charge of this dorm. I’ve been living in several dorms across Singapore, yet, I’ve never seen such a poor and worn-out dorm like this one. Boarders’ wellness is equal to zero.

I’m speechless. There are TWO microwaves for the ENTIRE dorm to use. Dryers are broken for months, yet, they haven’t been fixed. I don’t really expect much from the dorm but this kind of living condition is unacceptable. The BEST dormitory in Singapore!
