Shop owner was very rude. I asked for the price of a rattan rocking chair, she told me that the cost was $800+ and was very unwillingly to answer my queries, such as the material and country of origin. Please be advised not to go or purchase anything from this shop. The service is extremely bad.

Quaint little rattan furniture shop along Joo Chiat Road! Store owner was really friendly and kind, leering me try the various chairs I was interested in. Ended up buying one, but it was rather pricey. May have been overcharging a little, do haggle or some price comparison first!

In operation since 1945, Teong Theng Co. is on such company that specialise in making rattan furniture. It's difficult to miss the stacks of rattan furniture in the store along the street of Joo Chiat, artfully breathing a sense of old school charm into the neighbourhood.

DO NOT BUY YOUR FURNITURE HERE, IT IS EXTREMELY OVER PRICED!!! I had decided to write this after I visited a neighbourhood furniture shop. I saw numerous rattan chairs at this neighbourhood furniture shop at Aljunied & asked the shop owner regarding the prices of his rattan chairs as I was curious about the prices. To my shock, his rattan chairs were selling for around $100 or lesser. I had bought a similar one from Teong Theng for $380 with absolutely no discount. It was around 4 times the price of the rattan chairs at this neighbourhood furniture shop. Shocked by the prices difference, my mind went blank. I then asked the shop owner the prices of each rattan chair just to make sure that they were all around the $100 range. The shop owner then asked me if I had any rattan chair at home & which one I like. I told him that I had one that is similar to one of the designs at his shop & he asked if I had bought it nearby. Nodding my head in silence as I felt embarrassed that I had paid $380 for a similar chair, he immediately asked if I had bought it from the Joo Chiat shop. He took me by surprise & told me that many of his customers had feedback to him about the exorbitant prices that they have paid for their rattan furniture at Teong Theng. If you have seen a piece of rattan furniture that you fancy at Teong Theng, please visit any neighbourhood furniture shop to find a similar one as you would probably pay 1/3 or even 1/4 of the price that you will be paying at Teong Theng. Please spread the word around so that your friends don't end up paying 3 to 4 times more than what they should be paying

Very surprised to find this gem still exists in our Katong Heritage Trail ??‍♂️?‍♀️. Established in 1945, this very "old school" furniture shop is one of the very few places in Singapore where you can find the iconic rattan swing, rocking chairs and the iconic seashell chairs common in households in the past.

Historic shop selling historic rattan chairs, easily accessible by foot during Katong walk. Didn’t attempt to purchase but other reviews aren’t favourable.
