The Ocean Mart Live Seafood Market - 670 Geylang Rd

I had an incredibly disappointing encounter with Lily, who I suppose is a manager at Oceanmart in Geylang. She was very rude and in my view, showed a blatant lack of integrity. I am a private chef and had (for the very first time) visited their shop to purchase seafood for several large meals I had coming up. I saw her and a member of staff bring out a massive Alaskan King Crab to pass to a customer who just purchased it. I was quite thrilled to see it and remarked that it was such a nice Blue Alaskan King Crab. Lily immediately scowled at me and when the customer was away, raised her voice and chastised me saying - “Why did you say this? Don’t ask this in front of my customer, most people don't know the difference between Blue and Red Alaskan King Crabs!!" I was shocked and baffled at her over the top reaction, and walked out of the store. For background, there are generally 3 types of Alaskan King Crabs - Red, Blue and Golden. To some, the Red one is the most sought after as the meat is supposedly firmer and sweeter. Initially, I didn’t quite understand why she would be so offended when I just remarked that it was a very nice Blue Alaskan King Crab. But when reflecting on it, I could only conclude that she was mad because she did not want the other customer to know it was a Blue Alaskan King Crab instead of a Red one. I’m not sure what she had told him before, but clearly, her reprimanding me was not only extremely rude, but also demonstrated a clear lack of integrity and honesty towards the other customer. I had wanted to get Oceanmart as a new supplier for the meals I prepare, but after that very brief but appalling encounter with Lily, decided not to risk buying from a supplier who is not only rude but lacks basic integrity. I hope others would exercise that same caution too.

Bought their live Alaska King Crab @ $128/kg for birthday celebration. It was 2.32kg live, after steaming it shrink to less than half its weigh for sure. It definitely taste fresh but shrink size is so unexpected. When trying out the “meaty” leg, the meat chunk size was like a crab stick size( it taste super fresh but … meat loss is too much, understand that it will shrink but more than 50% is too much.) Previously , we have always been getting from senang supplier, which we never had this issue before(they used to guarantee the shrink size%） So I’m not sure if this is normal or not .. The next time, given a chance I would not be back here for their live king crab for sure .. Quite alot of walk in customer after and before us gotten their oyster.. maybe can try. Quite disappointed and kinda ruin abit of the celebration feel.

Ordered lobsters twice from here and both delivered in the morning on time. Fresh and good quality, and we made ginger N scallion lobsters for dinner. Will order again.

We ordered turbot online for pickup. I had entered the wrong date by accident. Got a call to say i forgot to pick up. Very flexible and friendly. Fish was great (a bit on the small side maybe), but super fresh and good quality. Will be back for more turbot and their manilla and bamboo clams!

It was a busy and fuss-free place so I wasn’t expecting prompt service especially on Christmas eve. But I was wrong. I was attended to promptly over the phone and in person. And I was a first time customer. The oysters were fresh of course! Well done guys!

The oyster is extremely fresh, crunchy and sweet. Customer service is excellent as we placed our order on the wrong day and they helped to solve our problem and offered another plan to send it to us asap. Will order again from ocean mart.

I have pretty much been a weekly regular customer with Oceanmart for nearly 2 years, which really developed first out of covid necessity to start with. Quality of seafood, especially the oysters and my favourite the large Australian lobster and Geoduck are excellent and i have never been let down or had a bad experience. Delivery is very reliable and service very good and i have recommended to friends who have used also. Enjoy some of pics from last nights bbq offering

A low profile shop with unbelievable amount of oysters. The seafood are really fresh and nice. I even saw blue lobster. This lobster is super yummy. Look forward to buying it. The clams are big and prices are good. They also have Canadian geoducks. Incidentally their clams and oysters are from Canada too. Only set back is it is a little distance from the mrt.
