Despite Salvation Army states that the donation in kind bin is 24hours, they shut the donation door at 9.30pm as it was full and locked up! Said not allowed to place items outside the storage area and told me to come back next day or go to Bishan HQ instead! What kind of wicked logic is this??? I don't have car and I had to detour to Bishan via bus 74 with 1 large box of items and 1 bag of clothes after this incident. Next time I just go straight to Bishan HQ and save my effort instead. SHAME ON YOUR 24HRS DONATION COLLECTION AREA!

Appalled at the Security Guard's behaviour. Chinese man, slightly brown hair and black polo tee. Today he was so rude. I went down with my old clothes to enquire how to donate. He while using his phone looked at me then look at the storage area and rudely told me that it was full and said; "You cannot see ah?" He then proceeded to use his phone again. I would say he's lucky that I was in a good mood because I was doing this out of my good heart. To others out there, take note, even if you have good intentions to donate, get ready for rude staff.

TLDR: NEVER come here to donate, try H&M or Bishan Salvation Army instead. Saw bad reviews about this place so I called in to ask before heading down. The guy on the phone sounded as if he didn’t even know there was a collection point so he couldn’t even tell me if it was full or bothered checking on my behalf. Went there at 12pm to realise that the hut was full and asked the security guard my items could be placed elsewhere because there was a lot of empty space around the area but they were really inflexible about things - but the security guard was a nice person regardless. It was a waste of my time nonetheless.

Same as all the other reviews below, details of 24hr drop off donation is not true as they close the room when the box is full. Fortunately I did not meet any terrible security guard and the one who spoke with me was a friendly Indian man who directed me to the poster with more info. Sharing this poster image for other drop off locations and info Hope that helps!

Super tox1c!!!! I was a admission here before the staff and other residents super f4ke and tox1c, people bu11ying each other but the staff do nothing lol. All staff also g0ssip about admissions and everyone super obnoxious. Only if u β€œp0r the staff” then they good to u. Otherwise they aim u. Admissions inside also all selfless don’t tru5t anyone inside. Super cr4p no contact to the outside world such a sh1tty place rules getting stricter and stricter. Once I saw a ghostly figure and the staff just started talking about chr1st and saying I was lying like wth??? Siao lol if u dont become their Xiaodog they won’t let u have home leave etc. Everything also cannot even bring in. People stea1 things the staff never do anything lol. Once you’re discharge they won’t let u come back and pack ur things they will send it to u and I had so many stuff missing even my underwear people wan take gr0ss sia My mom called the staff and they did nothing LOL. Very b4d organisation. Food also like cr4p. F the person who made me clean toilets. And btw this stup1d Francis botak guy only care about m0ney. 17 May 2020 - Donation box still open for collection, bin less half full as of 10am A small DIY Salvation Army Donation-In-Kind dropoff point here for hougang / buangkok peeps. Just outside main gate, but no drive in here (but enough room for a car to just stop at side and drop off items). Place was very quiet on a Sat late morning. Booth is actually a small room (maybe 2 bombshelters big) with sliding door, and was full to the door when i was there. Tiered metal racks to enable better use of space and allow more efficient upkeep would have been great.

Went to the inside before some time ago. The review is based on my memories The place consist of 3 blocks where there are fences around each blocks to prevent interaction between each other as much as possible. Each block consist of 2 floors, a place to eat, places to stay and a small grass field. Interaction is allowed only at designated times There is a house beside the senior boys section block where the superintendent family or some other people staying there There is a massive football grass field in front of the house. It is segregated by a very tall and wide metal fence. The purpose is to protect the house from in coming ball. The football kicked by the children in the home can reach up to 4 stories high. The impact force can damage glass, concrete walls and cause a very loud vibration sound on the metal fence. The distance travelled can reached close to about 2 times the full length of the entire gracehaven land plot. I am serious Beside the football court, there is a playground on elevated ground. The football court ground level and playground ground level is about more than 3 metres different The place is surrounded by tall plants about 2 stories high to prevent outside people from seeing what is inside. The entrance gate has a guard house with a security guard on duty Senior boys section block has something known as a detention room that looks like a real jail. Real prison bar doors and gates. Small windows also. I think it has dark blue color walls. Last I saw them, they are very rowdy but there are some good ones Children in there come from many backgrounds and their detail are kept top secret by msf, salvation army and other parties Most staff are fine and good but there are cases where a rare few are banned from the home or fired A few times a year, the children and staff will prepare a grand showcase for the inspection team from the ministry of social and family development. Everyone in the home will properly tidy the place and make the home looks presentable. Usually a few times, some staff will ownself clean and tidy up the place themselves rather than asking the children to do it. The children will also put on a great acting show as instructed by the staff to show the msf team and tell them that they are doing well. When the msf team come to the home, they will usually be very impressed with how organised the place is which is kind of laughable to certain extent. It is the same thing with many children home in singapore. This is because the msf have very powerful authority on many things. If something is not right, they have the power to change things drastically which is usually not a good thing to the home management Overall the place is very well managed with some flaws. It is also approved and inspected by msf regularly. Funds are properly used for the home activities and programmes. It is not great place to some but if necessary, it will be the ideal place to be

I am glad that I was allowed donation as I read the bin was full during a period thus donation was denied. I actually rented a car to bring all my donations over hence I have my concern if I wasn’t able to and waste the trip. Will be good if such information is available in web. Otherwise a great place to donate old goods to the needy.
