★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Visit Date: Jan 15 | Damage: $47 | Ordered: Scallion noodles, wanton in soup and chili oil, vegetarian bee hoon, taiwan cold noodles, char kway teow, Acai berry shake, mango shake and cold brew
Quaint cafe nestled in my neighborhood CC. Small menu but you’ll be in for a surprise. Char kway teow is the standout dish for me. Every element falls into place supported by a strong wok hei finishing. Al dente noodles dosed with the delightful scallion oil is as close as it gets to the taste of Shanghai. I should know, i stayed there for 7 years. Their vegetarian noodles is simple and delicious but served without sauce. Shakes are freshly made with all the natural taste in each sip. I drink coffee but not a big fan of cold brew - their version is unsweetened with a robust taste.
I didn’t get the taste of the cold noodles. Maybe its the sauce, but to each its own. The wantons was a miss for me too but that’s only because i prefer mine with shrimps. Theirs is the mainland version with meat and chives.
Will definitely return for the kway teow, scallion noodles and drinks!
By the way, you can also buy “ugly” fruits and vegetables at a fraction of what you pay for normal looking ones.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love the place. My pitstop when walking dogs. And outside is pet friendly - also safe place for my dog to roam a little bit. Love the food and shakes too.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered the scallion noodles set with classic dumpling soup. Scallion noodle was good. taste was just great, and the thickness of the sauce wasn't so sticky so it doesn't feel heavy. The simple wanton, although didn't have vinegar or ginger to go with, was good. And also do tryout their Berry Classic Acai Smoothie. Its refreshing and satisfying to the mouth

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This small cafe is hidden in a corner of Queenstown CC. The above average price (for such a setting as there was no aircon, no ambience, no service but there was 5% charge for it) was not justified by the substandard food, at least based on the dumpling with chilli oil + scallion noodle set ($8.30) that I tried. The noodles and eggs were terribly overcooked. The disposable cutleries did not help the dining experience. Should also try to cut plastic waste in addition to food waste (apparently this is one of the objectives of this cafe).
