In March 2015, I met this person called Mr. Ambrish Daga in my hotel (Lalit Great Eastern) in Kolkata and found him as a decent person and thought of starting to work with him. I gave him an LC for a wood called Dillinea which had to come from Papua New Guinea. It was a new kind of species for me but I thought of giving a trial order and test it in the Nepal market. After the earthquake in 2015 in Nepal, I got occupied with the volunteer work and had left my work for sometime but due to insistence of Mr. Daga I opened up the LC at this difficult time because I had given him my word. Later on, when I asked him to ship the goods he told me he couldn’t do it because the timber was already in Kolkata. Now the problem here was that I opened the LC for him in Papua New Guinea and he was trying to give me the product which he already had in Kolkata. We are not allowed to trade like that due to the import rules. Now after all this I told him to refund my money so they paid me an amount which is somewhat equivalent to 90% of the LC amount and have kept back 10% if the amount without any fault of mine. After continuous follow up with Mr. Daga, he insisted me to talk to his boss in Singapore named Mr. Ajay Dhar who is the owner of Woodcraft Intl Pte Ltd. Mr. Daga told me that Mr. Dhar has to make a lot of payments but I don’t know why he is not doing it. (you can see that in the attached pic). After agreeing to make the payment, Mr. Daga started making excuses of illness and family problems and other financial issues, etc. I still kept my patience and followed up with him after months just so that I could get what is my right. Now what Mr. Daga says is that "I can offer you 500$ from my pocket as Mr. Dhar is not ready to give anything". And what Mr. Dhar says is that he doesn’t know what had transpired between Mr. Daga and me so he can’t make the payment. So, they have been playing this blame game since over a year now and after sorting it out with them on a conference call and in one group, Mr. Daga cuts off the line or leaves the group without giving any response. The principal amount due to me was around 2900 dollars and I have come to a settlement after bearing all the costs and not even applying interest on my money to 2,143 dollars. These people have not been able to refund this amount of mine and whenever I speak to Mr. Dhar, he keeps boasting of how he is running a multi billion dollar company single handedly and treats his clients at a priority basis. This is not about the money now as 2,143 dollars is not that big an amount for me to go through all the stress I have gone through all these years. Even if I get this money out from them, I’d definitely be using it for some social cause which I generally do so that I get some peace of mind after dealing with these people. This is just a mail to inform everyone in this line to beware of such thugs who dupe you of your money without even working with you. At first they are very sweet and nice to you but after they get your money, they will start ignoring you and make excuses which are fake and would make you feel ashamed of yourself for asking your money back. (attached picture) Even though Mr. Dhar says that he is too big a person for me to spoil his image or anything. This is genuinely not an attempt to do anything of that sort. This will just give me some mental peace and will also make sure that my friends and colleagues working in the same field are safe before they come in contact with these two people who are genuinely not ideal people to work with.
