Xiang Ji Chicken Rice - 630 Bedok Reservoir Rd

One of the Best chicken rice on this island... family business.... since 1980s till now, their standard maintained. Even I've moved out from the vicinity, I will visit them whenever I'm nearby and they still selling $2.00 per plate.

I came here for the old school hainanese chicken rice and was not disappointed. I ordered half a chicken in both roasted and white flavours and both were very much tender however I preferred the latter. The boss was nice enough to give me pieces of char Siew which I didn't order and explained that it's home made. I would be back for sure! Did I mention I paid only 12 bucks for half a chicken and 2 plates of rice? Take note of the long queues and fact that they might sell out around lunch time..

Messy looking presentation but the chicken rice is quite nice. Has a nice aroma to it when eaten. The cheapest is $2.50 and not much chicken meat.

Quite average. It looked much better than it tastes. The charsiew was the standard lean kind of charsiew, although it was cut quite thickly. Charsiew was dry and a bit tasteless. The wantons were tasteless as well, I didn't taste a sweetness of the minced meat. The sauce was a salty soya sauce base, and was quite monotonous. Even adding chilli didn't make it any better. I just felt like I was eating dark soya sauce, there wasn't other dimensions to the sauce. It's not terrible, but it's a slightly below average bowl of wanton charsiew kwayteow.

Traditional chicken rice, average quality though price is reasonable starting from $2.50 per plate.

One of my fav chicken rice in the east. Long queue always spotted here. The rice is very fragrent and cooked just right. Always order the roast chicken and charsiew. Highly recommended

Oh my! While the presentation may be somewhat messy and the meat portion rather small, but this is probably my favourite chicken rice. Everything down to the soup is tasty. I just keep going back whenever I have chicken rice crave.

After numerous recommendation of this chicken rice stall by friends, I decided to give it a try. Located in Bedok Reservoir Market, you can see queues formed in front of this chicken rice stall. The queue cleared quite fast, as the stall owner was quick enough to prepare your food. Their chicken rice was quite affordable and their portion was very generous too. The rice has slight chicken oil fragrance and was not oily like some others. The boneless chicken meat was tender, not dry and quite juicy. Their homemade garlic chilli was very good and spicy, which will make you want to have another bowl of rice. Not a bad deal for a plate of steamed chicken rice at $3.00.
