Xiang Ji Hainanese Chicken Rice - 14 Haig Rd

Very commendable plate of chicken rice. Fragrant rice, tender meat and generous serving of meat. Chilli is spicy and goes well with the rice. Soup is hot and hearty. There are many chicken rice stalls here at Haig Road, but this is one of the best, if not the best.

Come here every month or so to fulfil my cravings and I’m always satisfied. At $3, the basic portion is sufficient in terms of portion. I tend to add $0.50 for more rice if I feel like it (pictured), leading to a really full and fulfilling meal. - My first visit in months and I was not disappointed. I order the deluxe set at $3.50 which includes a plate of rice with extra portion of meat. Both Hainanese and roasted chicken were tender - yes, even the breast meat. Rice was fragrant and cooked just right - portion was suitable. I opted for extra rice at a cost of $0.50. The soup was flavoured by the chicken and was light - a great balance to the dish. The chilli is a must-have. Spicy and fragrant with hints of garlic and ginger. The chilli here is potent and possibly one of the most flavourful ones around. Can do with a little more “thickness”.

Xiang Ji’s food feels homely and that’s why I’ve been patronising this store for close to 3 years. The dao gua is amazingly silky so it’s my standard add-on every time I buy from them. Chilli is defo one of the best I’ve tried so far in sg. Soup is richer than the ones served at other places.

Hidden gem! As what others said, very homely chicken rice. Succulent chicken, aromatic rice and the chili packs a punch! You will never regret eating at this stall and it’s cheap!

This place is so underrated. Such a hidden gem. Defo one of the best place to serve chicken rice. The rice itself is so fragrant and the meat is so tender. The guy is also very friendly. People usually order half / whole chicken to share. Go give it a try!

Chicken is tender, soup got herbal taste, chilli was good and portion is large! Per set $5!! Not bad!!! ?

An overall satisfied meal. I asked for lesser rice so this picture don't do the stall justice. Rice is soft and fragrant Chilli is just the right amount of spiciness which enhances the rice flavor Chicken that I got was breast meat and it wasn't tough at all. It was downright juicy And to end the meal, the soup is so herbal and tasty, it makes me feel satisfied. And for only 3 dollars. You gotta try it.

Unexpected tasty hainan chicken rice. They have the skinless chicken! If you are like me, very concern about the calories and fat, you can order the skinless chicken rice. They will give you chicken breast part, which is my favourite part hehe The price was very reasonable. I ordered a set with the tofu and the braised egg too, it coasted only 5 sgd. the rice was full of chicken fragrance. The taste of the chicken is not loading those Michelin star stall, definitely worth trying.
