★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From the same management as Nobu-ya, Yama-ya focuses on serving Oden and the usual fine list of Japanese sake, beers, whisky and shochu. Expect the same high quality of food at affordable prices, and as the regulars of Nobu-ya would know, the same strict house rules on min. one alcohol order per person. Already a hit with the Japanese community here so do make sure to call ahead and book especially on Fridays and weekends. You are highly likely to be without a seat otherwise.
Recommended: White fish tempura, Mixed veg and fish paste, Mixed tofu and fish, Oden soup with rice, Octopus, Spareribs

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One old man staff is quite rude that refuse entering because we can’t drink alcohol. Although I am sure that is house rule, attitude to who can’t drink is too disrespectful. Disappointed.

I know it’s an Izakaya and they want to push their drinks, but maybe it needs to be more tempered. The hidden pressure of the boss really gives an otherwise fantastic place an unnecessary edge

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If possible, i’ll rate 0 star. Discriminate against people who don’t drink. I’m preg and accompanied my husband for a drink. This super rude middle age owner chased us out even after my husband ordered and started drinking his beer. As we were leaving , he pointed to a sign to say they don’t accomodate non drinkers? wth. Say so earlier la.
