★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Opened on 7 November 1987 as part of the first section of the MRT system, this MRT station is one of the first five MRT stations to be opened in Singapore along with Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Braddell and Toa Payoh. Its station code was N10 before being changed to its present form, NS15 in 2001. The section of tracks between Khatib MRT station and this station is the longest between any two stations in the MRT network. The installation of the half-height platform screen doors began on 15 August 2011 and commenced operations on 18 October 2011. This station is conveniently located near Yio Chu Kang Bus Interchange, Yio Chu Kang Stadium, Yio Chu Kang Sports Hall, Yio Chu Kang Swimming Complex, The Grassroots' Club, Nanyang Polytechnic and Presbyterian High School.
