Good satay! The satay (mutton, chicken) is priced at $0.80/stick, and the rice cake is at $1 per slice. The satays are generally well marinated and is very juicy. The satay sauce is also quite thick and has a 'chunky' texture. Do expect to wait quite a bit (~15-20 minutes) before your order is served.

Great place for dinner. More expensive than other Hawkers, but it is a bit of an establishment, especially for tourists. But good food, quick service, not expensive and an experience sitting in the middle of what is a busy street during the day!

Poor service. Brought some colleagues to have a quick bite there before our night event. Several instances of unpleasantness. First, the older male staff taking orders did not seem interested in serving locals. I was literally following him around and he walked up and down approaching foreign customers before he finally took my order. He ignored me until all these different orders were taken even though some of these customers came later than me. Second, was unhappy when I declined to purchase one of their set menus. I only wanted meat satays because of the profile of people eating. His attitude became even worse once I declined the set and tried to order just meat satays. He kept saying that the number of satays of each meat (chicken, beef, mutton) were not ok but could not give me an answer when I asked what sort of numbers were ok with him. Understand that it may be easier for stalls to process orders in whole numbers like 5, 10 etc of each type of meat but this staff member couldn't even give me an answer about what number he wanted. I had to do several rounds of trial and error before he accepted my order. Third, he told me to take the slip of paper and come back at 7.50pm to collect the satay. We went to sit down and as 7.50pm came approached, there was still no sign of our satay but we saw other tables carrying satay back. One of my colleagues went to the stall with the paper slip to confirm our order and found out ONLY THEN that we were supposed to be physically queueing at the collection queue. By then, it was later at night so the queue was EVEN longer due to the crowds and my colleagues were starving... Unbelievable. We are fine with standing in line but how can their staff mislead us about collection? If we never found out about the physical queueing, will you have taken our money but not given us our order? Overall, we waited close to 1.5 hours for this plate of satay due to the poor service and misdirection of the staff. Can't imagine what my colleagues were thinking when they see stalls behave like this to locals when it is supposedly a tourist attraction. If they ordered personally, would they have been subject to such poor service? Really leaves a bad taste in your mouth regardless of how the food tastes.

I ordered the beef, chicken and prawn satay. It was a 20 minute wait on a weekday evening. Good satay. The prawns were already deshell-ed too so it was convenient to eat.

Satay sticks have been getting smaller after COVID because of meat price hike probably especially stalls at Satay by the Bay. But, this stall 7 at Lau Pa Sat still have decent amount of meat at each stick. The prawn is of decent size and fresh. We tried Set A with S$28 which consists of 10 sticks of chicken, 10 sticks of mutton and 6 sticks of prawn. I especially love the way the peel the skin of prawn body without removing the head for easy eating.

You can’t go wrong if you choose stalls 7&8- the satay is delicious. Get there before 7pm if you want to sit in the street area. These stalls are halal so no pork is served, but the chicken, beef, and mutton will satisfy you for sure. Beef and chicken shown in my picture. You can’t beat this environment on a weekday evening after work.

Famous satay at La Pau Sat, offers only a few type of meet from Chicken, Beef, Mutton and Prawn. Satay is well cooked and delicious, sauce is also nice. Recommend to visit around late evening for less queue, and sometime restaurant mess up the queue, please be caution.
