β β β β β My husband and I joined Jeff and the other groupies for a bike tour around Pulau Ubin on 28 March 2021.
We really appreciated Jeff's professionalism and knowledge. About a week prior to the trip, he sent me a personal WhatsApp to introduce himself and where we would be meeting.
On the actual day, we met at Changi Point Ferry Terminal. Jeff was there very early (ahead of everyone else) and had all of the bikes laid out and ready for our choosing. He was very patient in helping us to adjust our bike seats to a comfortable height. We were also given some time to ride around on our bikes to become accustomed to the brakes and gears. He also gave us a few minutes to use the toilet. The bikes were foldable bikes. They were quite sturdy and the brakes were very effective at stopping the bike.
The ferry trip took about 10 minutes. We were blessed with beautiful weather and clear skies. When we arrived at the dock, Jeff was very efficient at unloading the bikes and again allowing us some time to ride around and to become accustomed to shifting the gears, braking, etc.
We then began our four hour tour. One feature that we appreciated was that Jeff had a portable speaker that allowed him to speak to the group without having to shout. This was a godsend, as it made it much easier for us to hear him.
Jeff took us around the island to different "hot spots" such as a gigantic tree, Chek Jawa Wetlands, past kampung houses, up six flight of steps to a scenic look-out point, and of course, Ah Ma's Drink Stall (bring some money-- the coconut water is from a real coconut that is very sweet. One coconut will cost $5). We were fortunate to see some wildlife as well, specifically wild monkeys and a solitary wild boar. Thankfully, both were quite tame and did not give chase.
We found Jeff to be very patient. If some of us were struggling to cycle fast and to keep up, he would wait for us at the meeting point. He never once rushed us to pedal faster. Most importantly, however, he was very, very knowledgeable about all of the flora and fauna that we saw along the way. He even had some samples of seeds from the different plants in his backpack. When we visited the mangrove swamp, he gave us a sample of sea coconut, which was a much appreciated and refreshing snack after having climbed up and down six flights of stairs!
We also hiked to the summit overlooking one of the quarries. I don't think that other tour guides would take their groups on such an expedition. The hike took about 10 minutes to reach the top. Do wear a good pair of closed-toe, hiking/athletic shoes as the ground is muddy, uneven and rocky in some parts.
I learned a lot about conservation from Jeff's sharing as well as the importance of respecting and keeping our environment clean and sustainable. I left the tour with a better and clearer commitment to keeping our waters and trails pollution-free.
At the conclusion of our tour, we climbed back into the ferry feeling very tired but fulfilled. Jeff has a very funny sense of humour. He tries to make people laugh-- he has a very local Singaporean wit (including his use of Singlish, lah!) and this is what makes him unique. He even had some good recommendations of places to eat in Changi Village.
He is a fantastic guide! You will not regret taking this tour with him. If I could give him 10 stars, I most definitely would! He represents not only the voice of Pulau Ubin (he grew up in a kampung, so he knows what he's talking about, folks!) but he is also one of the smartest people I know in terms of being able to tell you about nature-- trees, leaves, mangrove roots, fishes-- you name it, he more than likely knows about it. Kind of like a walking Wikipedia of everything Pulau Ubin.
Book the tour! You will definitely enjoy it and return to Singapore a lot more knowledgeable and informed as compared to your friends. Plus, you will get to escape from Singapore's crazy rat race environment to a place where time seems to have stood still. Pulau Ubin is truly Singapore's gem. It is, as Madonna would say, "la isla bonita."

β β β β β Attended the pulau ubin cycling tour (4/4/21) & got to learn a lot more about the history, & biodiversity to this little island.
Jeff, guide for the tour, was a very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable person. He shared with enthusiasm about the landscape, flora & fauna we see along the journey.
Was supposed to attend the session on March, but my partner fell sick the night before. Upon knowledge, of that after we missed the march session, he offered to reschedule us for a subsequent session even though he didnβt had to (since he wasnβt notified in advance).

β β β β β We had signed on for the Ubin Island bike tour. Our guide, Jeff is friendly and patient. Had it not for him, we wouldnβt haven known so much about the ecosystem on the island and gather new knowledge about the fauna and flora on the island. Interesting tour!

β β β β β Jeff was a great tour guide. He made sure that we were comfortable with our bikes from the start. He did not delay our tour despite others were late (didnβt turn up in the end). He was also very informative during the tour. I learnt a lot which I think would be fantastic for all families with children. Children can learn a lot about nature. I would also recommend anyone who is adventurous and wanna know more about pulau ubin. It is a very easy trail for all cyclist. Jeff would also help us to take pictures along the way and will send it to us at the end of the tour. The tour was enjoyable and it was a great experience even though we cannot travel anymore. It brings back a little traveling atmosphere.

β β β β β Amazing bike tour with a comfy bike and a very energetic and knowledgeable tour guide (Fred). We have enjoyed the ride and the tour as we have learned a lot about Singapore history and culture. I would strongly recommend this tour at your 1st or 2nd day in Singapore, as it will help you to know the whereabouts in the city.

β β β β β Truly a great tour of Singapore. From the booking process, to the guide, to the sites - this is the best tour! Very knowledgeable and get to see things you may not find on your own.
Highly, highly recommend this tour of Singapore! Do it the day you arrive, or the day after, so you know where you want to go back to afterwards!
