Boruto - #01 Boruto

Recommend to come here and enjoy drinks with friends, especially for the sake lovers. The food was really tasty and went well with our drinks. Glad we tried out the fried fish which we were hesitant about initially lol (after much convincing from the staff) - SO DELICIOUS and no regrets. You can literally eat the entire thing including the "bowl". Pastas are a must-try as well, as is the FRIED SQUID (we had double portions!)

Sat at the bar on a relatively busy Friday night, and had total visibility of what was going on in the kitchen. We observed several sanitary lapses in how raw food and other ingredients were handled, and how cookware was cleaned. On the topic of food, we were not so impressed. Squid stuffing tasted bland and squid itself was overly charred; arancini fusion attempt was neither here nor there... doused in takoyaki sauce, it wasn't possible to enjoy or even discern the arancini taste; same with the scotch egg – too much takoyaki sauce overwhelming all the subtle flavors; charcoal chicken was fine and juicy, but the crust gets really oily. Really wanted to enjoy this place, but the expectation was not met. From the outside it looks like a premium Japanese bar, but once inside we felt that the ambiance, crowd, and offering was not much better than any old dive bar near the river. Also, not a single Japanese person works here, which explains the lapses in execution. Positive point was that the price was alright, and the kitchen crew seemed really determined on a busy night.

Boruto has become one of my favorite modern izakayas. Since my first visit, I was pretty wowed by their food and affordable happy hour drinks — highballs, beers and sake for less than $10 each. I’ve since gone back 2 more times since then with other groups, so we’ve managed to try a good range on the menu My top faves include: -mentaiko fries with generous amounts of sauce (my friend got his own personal serving) - Sole karage which was deep fried to perfection. Even the bones and display are edible and super delicious! -pulled pork - bite sized deliciousness but a tad too small!

Great food. Only had sashimi tapas. Hope they could extend it to a full sashimi menu. Sashimi scallops were so good. Great variety of sake. One of the few Japanese restaurants with great quality and reasonable price. Really enjoyed the night.

Very interesting Modern Japanese inspired fusion cuisine. Dishes are inventive and fairly unique. Boruto takes a page from several classic dishes and turned them on their heads to create something entirely new. While not all the dishes may suit your fancy, I do recommend giving them a shot as you don't see such dishes elsewhere.

Food is very good! Lovely presentation was lovely and staff here very attentive. They are constantly refilling our water. Will come back again to try pork rib.

Every single dish was excellent. And they have reasonably priced drinks to go along with it. Forgot to take a pic of the sake we had, it was good as well. We ordered double portion of the fried octopus to go along with our drinks, it was really delicious. Thumbs up on the service too! Definitely a place I’ll be back with friends to try out different dishes.

Food was surprisingly very good and I was impressed!! I loved both the pasta dishes my frds ordered and they were done perfectly. Right amount of sauce and seasoning, flavorful yet not overwhelming. If I must find fault, potion of some items can be small… Cos they were so good I wanted more.. Well done!
