Cute little gelato with a twist, date to try a chilli crab, chendol, laksa or chicken rice ice cream? These are just some of their whacky creations. For $5, you can try their mini scoops. These are things you have to try at least once in a lifetime, though I may not sure I will be back again, as the scoops are so little. Perhaps if they have something new and whacky in the future. My fav so far is still the laksa. Savory in nature, you can almost taste the haebi (dried prawns) too. #butterknife #icecreamproject #icecream #creativeflavors

Tried the Banana Nut Crunch and Traditional Mooncake ($9 for 2 scoops). The Banana Nut Crunch tastes better than I expected! I super love the hazelnut as it gives a different texture, a crunch, to the otherwise smooth ice cream. It also has a slight caramel-ly taste? It's so good! The Traditional Mooncake tastes just like a mooncake, complete with egg yolk as well! Quite amazed at how that taste can be encapsulated into an ice cream flavour!

They have very evocatively-named ice cream flavors that are more interesting than actually delicious, like a mushroom-soup flavor that tastes like cold mushroom soup, or a fish-curry prata flavor that tastes like pre-microwaved leftovers from Springleaf or something. Their more normal flavors taste good but are unremarkable. One great thing about them is that they offer a tiny three-flavor sample platter on these cute little cones for $5 - a welcome and much-needed product offering in no-sample times, especially given the weird flavors they like to create.

Gelato with many interesting flavors and we were definitely spoilt for choices. The gelato felt very soft for our liking, but definitely would come back to try other flavors.

"Arguably the best ice cream shop in the area" What sets a good ice cream place from a mediocre ice cream place is the quality of the basic flavors, and Butterknife Folk has the unique ability to transform even the most basic of flavors into something more than it. Having had their ice cream over multiple occasions over the years, I've found that it was never a dull day showing up and checking out what new, crazy flavours they've concoted this time. I still remember vividly the "chicken rice" and "chee chong fun" ice cream, that tasted eerily similar to the real deal, but in ice cream form. The best time to visit is every day but the most optimal is near festivals where they'd roll out themed ice cream that matches the occasion. Previous themed series include; Oktobeer fest, Mid-autumn mooncake festival, Chinese New Year, Halloween etc. I find it hard to describe how great they truly are but you just have to try it. Pause you who are reading this, stop thinking and just visit the store and try Butterknife Folk's ice cream. You'll never regret it. The only regret is that you are limited in your physical ability to try all of the flavors.

The blueberry cheese cake is really chunky and lots of fruit or cake bits. Pistachio is very nice too. Too bad no seats at the store and have to go to the stairs for seat.
