It has been a painful and difficult experience engaging Cams Design Pte Ltd to renovate my home. First of all, it is very expensive and the fees paid did not commensurate with the quality of works. It is apparent that Cams Design Pte Ltd does not have any workers, they sub-contracted the works to different contractors. Cams Design Pte Ltd and its Managing Director Bert Lim Yong Mee are very irresponsible and unprofessional. Their Project Coordinator assigned for my renovation left in the middle of the project. My renovation project went on practically without any supervision (which I paid for). I had to face with all sort of mess and problems during the renovation. Quality of workmanship was very poor and rough; tiles were uneven, end results is different from the approved drawing. The Interior Designer can wrongly measure of the size of my bathroom. Materials supplied not in accordance to contract (lower quality, size). Double charging. One of the workers kept pestering my wife wanted to borrow money from her. Despite the mess, Cams Design Pte Ltd does not want to take any responsibility. It will cherry pick the defects which Cams Design Pte Ltd are prepared to rectify - these are the cheap and easy ones. The major ones, Cams Design Pte Ltd will say: "Owner has to live with it" or "It is part of the design". The request for rectification works were in the end ignored. We tried different means to negotiate including via Mediation. The worse, Cams Design Pte Ltd has the face to request further payments for the rectification works which we say only when we are satisfied with the end results and it was out of goodwill from us. In the end both agreed on the terms, but the rectification works were messy. Cams Design Pte Ltd tried to cut corners. The plumbing were done not in accordance to with PUB regulations. We ended up terminated Cams Design Pte Ltd and engaged other contractor to finish the jobs. The case ended up in court because Cams Design Pte Ltd sued us but we won the case. I would not recommend to use their service at all. Do not end up like what we experienced. But if you insist to use Cams Design Pte Ltd, make sure that substantial portion of the fees should be paid upon completion and handover (I made a mistake thinking he is my wife's friend). Put everything on records for all your requests, discussions otherwise, it will end up arguing with Cams Design Pte Ltd and they will say where are your "black and white". Be careful of Cams Design Pte Ltd's offers for helps, you may think it is free. IT IS NOT, they will bill you in the last invoice without telling you. An update regarding Cams Design and the owner, Bert Lim Yong Mee. I understand the Cams Design is now technically cannot operate as the shareholder/sole director Bert Lim Yong Mee is now bankrupt for unpaid debts. We are waiting for the company to be liquidated and we will have to lodge our claim.
