Challenger (City Square) - 180 Kitchener Rd

Experience at challenger in Kitchener road is fairly better than what I have seen in other locations. They try to advise to the best of their knowledge and will help. They are no so attentive in each row but will definitely guide you when you go and ask in the main counter which is good when compared to other places. The staff know what they have also suggest what will suit you the best. Overall you get a good experience and support during your visit to this place.

Extremely poor customer experience. One guy in particular was very rude - Seah Swee Hee. Bought a pair of bluetooth headphones last night. Went to return this morning as it did not work seamlessly with my TV. Was point blank refused stating that these are not meant for TV. My question is - where does it specify on the box which device are the headphones certified for !!!! Please avoid this outlet...

Small compact electronics store. I suggest that you ask the store assistant for help to locate what you are looking for instead of hunting around. Not much stock.

Challenger has a good variety of general computing needs. Their prices are competitive but I would also suggest taking their membership in case you buy many items or buy bug ticket items. There is a good discount for members and the membership fee isnt much, about S$20 (i am not sure as i had taken this long back). This store at City Square Mall is well connected to public transport (MRT is in the same mall) and has me go there for a number of items.

Avoid this store. Very rude staff (a Chinese guy and an Indian guy), very unpleasant shopping experience! When a lady staff told me need membership card for discount, I told her I will "keep looking for other stuff" to buy together because I want to buy the membership card. While I was looking around, the Indian staff come "follow me in a very close distance" (15 cm) everywhere. After following me few minutes, I told him that makes me uncomfortable. Then he took the product I prepared to buy to the desk, totally treat me like a thief. I have no interest to look anymore, then I go to desk to check and buy member card, I told the other staff that behavior makes me uncomfortable. Then the Chinese guy intercept telling me "just go away" if I feel uncomfortable. (Because "he just argue with previous customer" and "gave vent to me!"). 非常沒禮貌的店員(一個華人男生跟一個印度男生)，非常生氣的購物經驗! 當我要結帳一個商品的時候, 女店員跟我說購買會員卡就有折扣，所以我說那我再看看有沒有其他商品想一起買的，這樣辦會員卡比較划算。當我繼續逛沒兩分鐘，一個印度店員就走來我身旁跟著我，而且是非常靠近的距離，我有跟他說我只是要挑其他商品以便辦會員卡，他還是不管走到哪都跟非常靠近，我直接跟他說這樣的行為讓我很不舒服，結果他就把我手上拿的商品先拿去櫃檯，完全把我當小偷看待。所以我也沒心情繼續逛，走到櫃檯結帳跟辦會員卡時，我好心跟櫃檯的女店員說這跟蹤行為讓人不舒服，太靠近了，結果隔壁的華人男店員就直接插嘴，說不舒服就不要買! 因為我有看到他才剛剛跟一個問題很多的客人爭論完，心情不好，結果居然把這怒氣出在我身上!!! 我跟他解釋我有跟女店員說明過我繼續逛的原因，他也沒任何道歉! 這跟蹤行為我猜測也是上層的授意，所以避免來這家店購物以免遭受這糟糕的對待。

Good but really not sufficient enough. In fact, challenger should open a bigger store 'flagship' size as its literally the only electronic store in whole of csm, besides apple and gadget mix (accurate as of 30-08-21) Although they may be mustafa near by, challenger is believed to be Singapore's number one trusted electronic store!

Doesnt even deserve one star to be honest. Don't bother buying things you can't try before purchasing. Bought an Audio Technica over the head headphones for $78, only work on the right side, left one no sound. Went back 2 hours later to get a refund, they say only can exchange with same product/something more expensive. Still cannot try before purchasing. So must purchase -> try -> if doesnt work, MUST EXCHANGE SAME THING or SOMETHING EVEN MORE EX -> makes no sense.

End of May 2022, I was looking to get a powerbank that I could use overseas with my parents. A friendly well-informed salesman uncle (forgot his surname) helped me choose a suitable powerbank. I saw a 20000mAh Valore power bank but was concerned about the weight. He suggested that price point and weight wise I could consider getting 2x 10000mAh one for myself and one for my parents. As I was decided on getting the powerbanks, he also let me test the power banks on my phone to confirm they could work. He helped me with my membership renewal and did not rush for payment. He advised me to take photo of receipt for warranty and not to check in the powerbanks on board the plane. Overall, it was very genuine service and a pleasant experience. At other outlets and electronic stores, the sales staff wouldn't bother to give such service. If I need to buy more devices or gadgets, I'll definitely return to this outlet and look for the sales uncle.
