β β β β β I am only writing this review to ask why only 16 to 30 year olds and not any younger?? I'm currently 13 as of 2018 and not just saying it for myself. Others who are also younger than the minimum age may want to seek help from CHAT too but can't. I'm just asking for a reason why.

β β β β β First time I went there with my mum, I hadn't told my parents about suicidal thoughts bc I didn't want them to worry but I wanted to get help for my "episodes". I also know that suicidal thoughts can be a symptom of depression but not everyone with depression gets it. They got me to fill out a form and said they'd get back to me. I got a call and was basically told that my situation was not bad and that I should just go to the school counsellor(which I did).
If that had been the end of it, I would have given this place 1 star (or 0 if Google allows for that).
At some point, I admitted that I had suicidal thoughts to my parents. They freaked out and reached out again to CHAT. Finally, CHAT gave me a referral to a psychiatrist at IMH, where I was diagnosed w depression and found out my "episodes" were anxiety attacks.
What I'm not happy about:
I could have began my recovery many months earlier if they had taken me seriously the first round and gave me a referral to a doctor.
If you have a very severe case, this place can probably help you. If not, I suggest trying elsewhere.

β β β β β They donβt take you seriously here. Donβt waste your time. On their website, they state that you will have a consultation with βqualified mental health professionalsβ. In reality, only a social worker will talk to you. No doctors will be present. After talking to you, the social workers will excuse themselves to βstudyβ their findings and then come back and try to diagnose you and tell you that you donβt need medication (obviously because they just donβt take you seriously enough)... if youβre not a doctor, you shouldnβt be making such statements and conclusions.
If youβre not obviously hurting yourself or actively planning your death, theyβll simply recommend that you attend counselling in some church, without taking into consideration that not everybody is honest about such things, especially not during the very first meeting. If you genuinely feel that you need a referral to see an actual psychiatrist, INSIST ON IT.
But all in all, just avoid this place and save your time. Talk to your family doctor instead and ask for a referral.

β β β β β Approach another mental helpline instead!
Am not a person who bother to give review when it comes to poor services as I give careful consideration about affecting the image of the organisation.
Thinking about the well being of you and your loved ones, like to share this.
Is really not recommendable!!! The man I talk to was really judgemental and sounds very unprofessional. The way he talks came across plain rude. The way he put his message across blame you for using this service. His choice of language sounds more threatening.
Shouldn't someone exercise compassion and be sensitive or providing a listening ear????? He simply cut off your sentence before you could even continue.
Anyone could have been left very uncomfortable in the same situation and felt blamed to seek help again. Let alone for peoples who are vulnerable and really need help
NOT recommended.
Have a nice day :)

β β β β β they do not listen to you. i made an appointment regarding adhd and they literally only took ONE (1) call to tell me that i don't have it. i gave them plenty of reasons why i think i have adhd and they told me i don't have it simply because of 2 reasons:
1. being unable to focus because you find it uninteresting and being able to be so absorbed into something because you are deeply interested in something is normal. don't get me wrong, i agree. but the thing is this symptom of mine causes me to hyperfixate on things. as in, i'm so absorbed to the point i forget to eat, drink, pee. i'm physically unable to move from my spot until i finish it. i ignore my body's needs just to finish it. i'm pretty sure other people can go find food when their stomach starts growling.
2. my symptoms did not show that much when i was at age 12 and below. are you serious? i only told them what i remembered. how could i possibly remember every single thing? just because i wasn't bouncing off walls when i was 8 means i don't have adhd? do they even know about the inattentive adhd type?
all i'm saying is, if it took you only one assessment that can be found online, to tell me that i don't have adhd... i simply could have done that myself. i wouldn't have reached out for help if i don't think there's something wrong with me. also, the way they told me my results was horrendous. "you don't have adhd". seriously? that's all? "you are probably just stressed" are you kidding me? medical neglect. literally no consideration of any of the words that i've said.
if you really need help, don't come here. if you do, exaggerate on everything because otherwise they won't believe you.
