Chowzan Dessert - 801 North Bridge Rd

Ordered their Orh Nee with Pumpkin Purée. The dessert was served piping hot and slathered with a generous serving of sweet coconut milk. I am normally not a fan of gingko nuts on desserts but this shop was an exception. The gingko nuts were fresh, soft, and it complemented well with the combination of purées.

Mango sago might look unassuming at first, but it sure packed a satisfying punch with its sweet and refreshing flavour. One of the best mango sago in Singapore.

A good selection of hongkong style dessert. We had a mango sago and peach gum. Not too sweet for both desserts and it was tasty.

We love this place, my family and I. What’s there not to like? It’s a small cozy joint serving some of the best desserts we know, and the staff there are really friendly no matter how busy they are. I also like the fact that their desserts aren’t sinfully sweet. Our favourite is their peach gum dessert and their white chendol. Imagine copious amounts of gelatinous gum in a Cheng Tng like soup, and Chendol lemak with coconut, and instead of the usual green jelly, you find them in white and made from coconut milk:)

I think that service folk should smile at dessert places or at least not be sullen. There was one staff when we were there. She took orders, made the desserts and was also the cashier. So she had every reason to be sullen The prices were very high for what we got and though the quality was not bad, certainly not value for money. But it was a hot day and nice to have bottled water with shaved ice. No other drink was available despite what was stated on the menu. Guess it is one of those wannabe dessert chains which does not really worry about standards nor service. Customers come cos of location and because there are not that many local iced dessert places around. Even on a hot Saturday afternoon, only a few tables were taken and 2nd floor totally empty. Luckily for the sullen staff ! Otherwise she may just walk out due to overwork. We paid quite a hefty sum for the desserts which were ,truth be told , just flavoured water or coconut milk Perhaps that is why dessert places are so in now, youngsters in all their google worldliness would baulk at paying so much for empty calories if only they knew how much sugar was in that one dessert !

Not the 1st visit and this time round, tried something different than the usual mango desserts. Ordered watermelon and honeydew sago, orh nee and white chendol. White chendol is the best preferred while the other two are only so so. In fact was a little tad disappointed with the watermelon and honeydew sago. Will like to try other desserts the next time. But for now, will stick to mango pomelo sago, mango glutinous rice and white chendol.

Fantastic experience at this newly found gem of a dessert joint. Lady boss took time out to explain their bestsellers, and why each dessert was special in their own way. White chendol with D24, first in Singapore. Texture was crunchy and chewy, not too sweet. Amazing!! Coconut jelly was made with real coconut juice, no sugar added. Mix the icecream and mango together with the subtly sweet jelly, it was also an amazing dessert. Almond jelly was fragrant, great way to wash down the above-mentioned stronger tasting desserts. We’re definitely coming back, thank you Chowzan! ^^

Located at North Bridge Road, a nice cozy shop with simple decor. Best to be seated downstairs with some space, then climb up the stairs to the upper level. Desserts are really fresh and taste delicious ?. Variety of deserts to select hot and cold.
