20/08/21 This stall has been around for many years. The peanut soup with glutinous rice ball is smooth and nice. The peanut soup is not watery and don’t taste like from the can. Not overly sweet just nice for me. Worth a try.

Affordable Chinese dessert shop with numerous branches across the island. Peanut soup is on point and not too sweet. Also happy to see matcha tang yuan here but the matcha filling seemed more like a paste. I expected the filling to be more runny and perhaps it needs to be cooked a little longer.

Went there in late may with a few colleagues on a windy and raining day, I had a bowl of almond soup with their black sesame tang yuan. Super fast and great services by staff and the hot dessert will be in your tummy in no time. Would highly recommend it to all my friends and family to try it. We pack a few back to office, those who didn't sent their order miss the great soup.

Consistently good after many years. You can have the peanut soup or the ginger soup, both good. Almond soup is subjective. I always go for the mix of all 5 varieties. In the past, it used to be handmade. I believe now is factory made. Standard is still there, taste much better than desserts stalls which serve all kinds of desserts.

My go-to place for 汤圆 tang yuan. Tang yuan literally means soup round (ball), with special meaning of yuan (圆) which also means complete/union, symbolises family reunion, family gathering together. This is a tang yuan specialist offering a good variety of filling and soup. They have peanut, sesame and red bean fillings, with combination of ginger, longan, almond or peanut soup. Do expect a queue during festive days.

Comforting, affordable and delicious. A must go store in this food centre. Great selection of tang yuan fillings. The peanut broth isn’t too sweet as well.

Ah Balling Tang Yuan (SGD $2.20) @ 75 Ah Balling. . Probably the most well known purveyor of this traditional dessert, serving for over 70 years. Now run by the 3rd-gen owners, with 3 outlets across Singapore. . Named for the year the stall opened (1975) in Golden Mile Food Centre, they're known for a wide range of glutinous rice ball flavours (5 flavours), and different types of soup base (4 varieties). . The soup bases are all handmade, served warm. I used to go for the signature peanut soup in the past, with its grainy peanut bits and nutty sweet flavour. . Lately, I prefer the herbal sweet spice notes of the ginger soup instead, soothing and subtle, warming the soul. . Their glutinous rice balls have a consistent soft sticky chew with a medium thickness. . The black sesame paste is like gritty lava, smooth with earthy nutty sweet flavour, a personal favourite. The peanut paste is grainy chunky with nutty sweet notes, coming in close. . The yam / taro paste is creamy thick in texture, with mild earthy sweet flavour that might be too light. The red bean paste has a thick sticky texture with earthy sweet notes, nice.

Old time favorite traditional dessert. Good for after meal dessert or just in its own during tea time. First choose one of the four soup - longan, almond, ginger or peanut. Not too sweet but just nice. Then choose the number and type of Ah Balling dumplings (see photo). You can mix different dumpling filling as well. Enjoy....
