I wanted to pick up Wing Chun for a few years now but only got down to starting classes this year. Having no martial arts background and being a slower learner, I was looking for someone who was patient and clear in his instructions. I came across CSL Wing Chun while searching online for courses, and decided to start the beginner course in August 2020. I was glad to find that Wang Sifu is a professional, unassuming teacher who communicates the CSL Wing Chun Style in a manner that is simple to understand. He is able to break down and explain every movement, and structures each lesson in a concise manner. He integrates modern approaches with traditional methods for practical application of the art. Students who learn under him can always take something home from lessons to hone and practice. Wang Sifu is also a patient teacher who works with the learning pace of the individual. While he is firm in his instruction, he is kind in his dealings with me as a student and open in his sharing of the philosophies behind the art. The group classes and the community built around this art and this school is open, welcoming and helpful as well. The participants in the class are friendly to one another, and we intentionally help each other get better at the art. The seniors share their expertise with no air of superiority, and demonstrations are very clear and well explained, which creates an open culture of exchange and learning. The systemic approach CSL Wing Chun adopts allows for individuals of all skill levels to participate. I have found the joy and meaning in pursuing this art under Wang Sifu, and I enjoy going to group classes to get better. I would encourage anyone who is interested in learning and adopting Wing Chun in a holistic, practical manner to enrol with this school.

It’s been a pleasure learning at Chu Sau Lu Wei Wing Chun with lessons that have such a strong focus on both technique and practicality, and a highly motivated and encouraging community

I have studied some martial arts before but always felt that many places just did it for fitness or to make money. My experience with Chu Sau Lei Wing Chun Singapore and Wang Sifu has been completly different. Wang Sifu really takes the time to explain and demonstrate the small details and philiosophies that really make a difference. His knowledge and teaching style are excelllent and he clearly shows how traditional aspects can be applied to modern day situations. To anyone inspired by Wing Chun and people like Ip Man, I absolutely recommend this school and teacher.

I have done some martial arts (muay thai, bjj, hapkido etc) in my earlier days and passion got me to start looking into chinese martial arts. I think chu sau lei wing chun stands out from many other arts because its very realistic and practical. Theres also light sparring elements in training which really allows you to learn better and apply the techniques more realistically. I would say i have learnt alot more here and understand alot more from this system than from other schools. On top of that training sessions are very dynamic and engaging, course fees are very affordable, training location is quite central, the seniors are very knowledgeable and very willing to share and teach, Sifu is also very patient and explain things in many different ways. Looking deeper into the art, there is alot more in this style of wing chun that sets itself apart from other chinese martial arts or even other styles of wing chun. This isnt like the styles shown in hollywood movies, which are showy but actually impractical. Sifu teaches only the techniques that are useful and can be used even during sparring or street defense. In a way, its a martial art that has long historical roots yet is still evolving and kept with the times and maintained relevant and practical. Highly recommended for anyone who is new to martial arts or interested to find a modernized and improved chinese martial art that is adaptable and also complements other martial arts forms.

The quality of instructions is consistent (including that of the assistant instructors) and very good. Besides techniques, principles are also taught which assists greatly with the application of the techniques. I feel that a student can start applying the techniques even only after a beginner course, An important principle I learnt is that it is crucial for the body to be relaxed at all times until the critical moment of contact. Thank you sifu and assistants.

I have spent approximately 10 years learning 2 forms of martial arts. When I first joined Wing chun, just as the club was being set up, sifu struck me as someone who was very passionate about what he was doing and teaches with his heart(importantly). The wing chun taught in class is very practical with a lot of focus on application. (sparing to test application) Which is also very important to me. Fast forward till today, the club has grown tremendously with many skilled wing chun practitioners, and enthusiastic new joiners. This shows how far the club has developed and progressed over the years!

This is the second time I practice Wing Chun and I am enjoying what I am learning with Sifu Wang. For long the reviews I read about Chinese Martial Arts is that the techniques are not applicable in real life. This however is not the Case with CSL Wing Chun. Sifu Wang focuses both on technique and applicability. He focuses on fitness and strength in application. He is Very attentive to the detail and very involved in the development of his students. At CSL WIng Chun, we don’t just learn the techniques we also learn how to own this art in our style. Really looking forward for more trainings to come as I continue on the journey to learn Wing Chun.

I wanted to practice Wing Chun to learn some self-defence moves. But here at CSL Wing Chun I am learning much more than that. Even while we are learning just the basic techniques and forms, Sifu Wang explains and demonstrates practical application of each move giving each practice and/or drill real purpose. It is also great for a slow learner like me that Sifu Wang and the senior student instructors have been very attentive and patient to re-explain and demonstrate as necessary. At age 50, and a first time learner of any kind of martial arts, practising Wing Chun with Sifu Wang is really having a positive effect on my health.... I feel like I am really learning what I have been doing wrong with my body, posture, breathing, etc for the past half a century...
