Coliwoo 1A Lutheran - 1A Lutheran Rd

I am editing this review once again to a 5*. This will be a more comprehensive and feedback driven review as I'll be leaving their premises prematurely so as to reunite with my family. ----------------------------- My last review was a 1* because I stated that I felt like I got 'cheaped' out on the WiFi relative to my rent; however after discussing with management, that isn't the case now. The last review was purely emotional because I couldn't download my work files quickly (since I work from home), and it had become very inconvenient. And obviously thinking that things were going to be like this for the long term, I was pretty upset thinking it was going to be like Boonlay (one of their other branches I stayed at for a year). My experience in their other branch was less than comfortable, but that isn't the case for Lutheran. While the WiFi is not the same as before (150+Mbps), it's more stable at a consistent 50Mbps (both download and upload speeds). So it's more reliable in the long term, while it may not be as fast. At least now, every tenant in the building can have consistent WiFi speeds with their 2Ghz and 5Ghz options. There are many positives of staying in this place, and I don't think many have stayed as long as myself in two of their establishments now. Lutheran is definitely a better place than their Boonlay branch and it certainly eases the stay for many people in Singapore who need a temporary stay, however long 'temporary' may be. The place obviously isn't going to be the Ritz or Shangri-La in terms of stay but what it offers is a reliable and easy stay at the heart of Singapore. Over the course of a year of staying here, I've seen many changes not many tenants can say they have. The building is always undergoing some form of change (that for the most part have been good). From the new decorations such as plants and other things, to the furnishing of the lounge/study area, to the renovation of the once disheveled basketball court, there really have been many improvements to the place. And for practicality they even have a company that provides an online-based printer which I wasn't aware about a month ago! The staff are friendly and obviously very concerned for every review given (unlike in Boonlay), and I don't think I've ever quite experienced an on-hands staff that really takes care of tenants like they do here at Lutheran. There is quite a stark contrast between both branches. There is a degree of kindness you can't really quite experience in other places of Singapore like you do in Lutheran, the staff are overwhelmingly nice and take a lot of pride and care in their work. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to use some of their facilities as of recent because of obvious reasons (COVID-19 in Singapore and the rollback to phase 2), but these facilities have always been quite well maintained albeit the room feels a little cramped, you everything you need for a light gym session of 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I'm pretty sure the staff thought I was crazy doing this almost everyday back in February all the way to March... As for the location, it's placed excellently. There's really nothing that quite matches the location of their building, it's almost impeccable how well it's placed between 2 MRT lanes (blue and yellow), you can get anywhere you want in the city using the train or even buses. There's also several restaurants and malls at 300m from the place, a 5 minute walk basically. Believe me when I say this as a college student, there really is nothing that can beat this place especially if you, like me, enjoy living and being alone. In conclusion, Lutheran is a nice place to stay for convenience sake. Without COVID, my experience living here would certainly have gone above and beyond; they've made the most out of the situation and taken measures to appropriately address the situation. Also, you can't miss the new art piece, it' was really quite mesmerizing watching the guy paint it. You'll see what I'm talking about if you decide to come live here.

Coliwoo is located in walking distance to two supermarkets, the Botanic Garden and the Downtown MRT line. The rooms are clean and the structure is well thought out. Every room comes with its own toilet and shower cabins. Be aware that the rooms do not come with blankets or pillows. Because of the corona virus, I was not able to use the gym or the gaming room. The shared kitchen includes two fridges (which are rather full), a cold and hot water dispenser as well as a stove. The security personnel is really friendly.

i like the apartment very much. For the management, i think they are very nice, they can speak Chinese and English, so it is easy to talk. and the officer can help me to solve the problems immediately, and it is very safe, there is 24 hour guarantee, and the place is very good, it is very close to a FairPrice, and it is very easy to get food. For the room, the place is very good, there is a toilet and bathroom in the single room, it is very nice.

It’s a high quality hostel in a reasonable price. Staff is friendly and the place is clean as facilities staff are cleaning the whole place every day! Now it is offering TV and mini fridge in individual room and they are all new! I lived previously in the university hostel right opposite Botanic Garden station and the management is extremely poor and rude with awful and dirty environment and facilities. This hostel is definitely a far better one while the price is very similar and you can enjoy far higher quality compared to other hostel.

Many students are living there. Recommend another people, if you don't mind to share washing machine and dryer. The location is perfect for walking, nearby cafes, quiet, and nice management people.

Great place to stay. Only issue i had was the deposit return was delayed.

Pretty decent place to stay. The rooms and public areas are clean. Very quiet with good management. I’ll definitely recommend this place.

Peaceful and nice place to stay. Nice communication with staff here. Nice room. Will come back again if there is a need.
