★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Super old school coffeeshop, excited to go in and try. Tried and if this is old school taste, it is disappointing. Worst carrot cake ever, don’t even try. Despite me eating in, the owner kept giving me the plastic styrofoam box. After that I realise he will say sorry too late I already pack it in the box to all eating customers. Reason: he doesn’t want to wash plates. Anyway, do not try at all. Black one is worse than white

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A name befitting of the dish. For $2 you get a seriously generous serving of carrot cake. The chili has a strong taste of hae bi (dried shrimp) which goes so well with the carrot cake. Best in Singapore? Maybe.
Opening hours state that they’re open till 10am but I was lucky enough to catch them dishing out their last servings at 11am on a Saturday morning.

The daikon cake was hard an undercooked. I believe it was due to the fact they were trying to rush orders.
The sauce it was fried in was sweet, but missing the smokey flavors. Chilly spicy flavor saved the day. Where is the preserved radish(chai po)?
What annoyed me was the nonchalant attitude when they messed up the queue order and served 3 others before me.when I raised it ot them, not a single apology but just telling me order was messed up. Sorry, I don't like to patronize shops who holds a nose high attitude; it was such a turn off that I could not enjoy my food after.

Unfortunately the carrot cake was sitting there when I ordered. Turned out to be lukewarm.
On initial bites, it was tasty though it is probably factory madr. If it was hot, it would be excellent.
