This is a clinic that charges you 530 SGD for one cavity filling!! I visited this clinic for a tooth ache which turned out to be a cavity filling endevour. I was told by the surgeon that an X- ray needed to be done and after which, I was told the cavity decay has not reached my dental pulp/ nerve root and so could be OK for now with a filling. During his detailing he mentioned we have 2 options - 1. Do a filling which would cost around 200 SGD, or do a root canal which costs 1.9K ( root canaling) and 1.9 K ( tooth crown). So, i thought 200 SGD sounds about rit for a filling and perhaps I could think later about the Root Canal. I was told that since my gums had grown into the cavity, some part of the gum needs to be cauterised so that the filling grips well to the tooth. I was given a local anesthetic for the same. But all of this is actually to facilitate a CAVITY FILLING Rit..??Well that would what a normal consumer / patient would think. I was not told by the surgeon that each of this is payable!!! so when I go to pay I get a bill of 530SGD for one dam cavity. The billing system is so weird that I was even charged for dental consult. Hmmm tell me this ...How would someone do a cavity filling without a consult? My impression is if u only consult and do nothing else then may be the consultation fees is justified. But if I chose to go ahead with cavity filling, why do i get charged for a consult (80 SGD)? Secondly, how would u do a cavity filling without an X Ray? Their X ray charges is 130SGD, whereas the cavity filling itself was 180SGD. So basically u pay as much for an x ray to know u have a cavity and then pay the same amount to fill it !! Doesnt end there... The whole gum electro cauterisation which I thought was to facilitate the cavity filling itself and not a separate procedure to do me any OTHER benefit- was also charged , and this even without the surgeon telling me its chargeable. That was another 120SGD and even the anesthetic was charged 20SGD. So after all that painful tooth, painful jabs into my gums and the so called cavity filling, am put thru more pain by being charged 530SGD. I leave the verdict to every reader . Suit yourself if u think its a fair price for a single cavity filling or think twice ..are u really paying for cavity filling or are u really paying just cuz the clinic is in an upscale area like Tanglin.

Doctor Ernest Lam is the BEST dentist I have ever know . I come from Europe to consult him, his experience and kindness are out of this world . He has cure me and my family always and we never had any problem . Doctor Ernest Lam is also very honest , sometimes he suggested to us less expensive solutions even if those will require more of his time . As one of the TOP dentist cabinet in Singapore I think that his rates are adeguate to his competence and knowledge . I am very happy with all the procedures I have done and I highly recommend Doctor Ernest Lam.

We live in Geneva and we always come to see Drs Lam for dental treatment every year for us and our two kids. They do a superb job and much better than the dentists we have seen in Geneva, Switzerland. Procedures are very well explained and all the tools and equipment they have are state of the art.
