★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Lover is a regular at both Desmond’s Creation and Eat First, and has different favourites at the restos even though they have a pretty similar menu and origins.
My first time there with him with our friends, we ordered our usual suspects at DC but the results were of course different!
The steamed fish is awesoem and super fatty, much better than Desmond’s. The seasoning is intense and hits the spot. Apparently Eat First’s specialty kungfu is in their steaming prowess! The Lover educated me that DC is better at their stirfry.
The Kailan with Beef is also much better than DC! The flavour is strong and the beef tender. The beef at DC is wayyyy too chewy.
The steamed chicken is also good, tender like tofu with intense flavour. The tenderness may come as a bit of a surprise/oddity.
The sweet and sour pork is a bit too sour fer me. But the same too toughness as DC :(
Overall, good eats indeed!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wonderful Cantonese home style dishes! We ordered their steamed chicken, fish head, sambal kang kong and their salted fish minced meat. Everything was tasty and not too salty, which we liked. Also a bonus that they have a nice air-conditioned place. Would recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The steamed fish is huge and value for money at $28 only. The kailan with big prawn is delicious. Ordered 4 dishes (all medium size) for pax and spent around $115.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great Cantonese home style dishes by one of the former chefs and the son of the founder of the former Sik Wai Sin restaurant on Geylang Road. The beef is particularly good with its wok hei flavour and large, tender slices (though the slices were thinner and more peppery in latest order).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of my ultimate fav Tze Char places in Singapore, Eat First also have one of the shortest and simplest menus. Every single item carefully and expertly prepared, every item delicious. It’s my regular go-to when I crave something comforting and consistently yummy.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Ordered sweet sour pork and beef kailan.
Their sweet sour pork is dry type and it's different from the usual zichar place. Personally, I prefer their version, sweet, savory and hint of sourness. Love it!
Beef kailan, delicious. Only side note is the thickness of beef, would prefer it thinner and some velvet to have smooth texture when eaten.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Anything I say would not add to the great reviews given to this Cantonese restaurant. Simple menu of long tradition of home-cooked Cantonese dishes. This is one of the few must try restaurants if you are overseas Chinese.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were early and had to wait 20 minutes as the place opens at 11:45am. As it was our first time, our host was helpful in recommending various dishes and also suggested the portion size as there were 5 of us. When our first dish of fried Tofu and prawns came we were a little worried cause it was a huge serving. Nevertheless even though the serving was a good size, we managed to devour most of them as they were all beautifully executed Cantonese cuisine !
