There was a time before 31 Oct 2018, when it would be possible to get a breakfast set for less than $2 (photo evidence with receipt below). Sigh. That was when there was the cashless 50 cent off offer.

Restaurant in UTown NUS. It has stalls for various cuisines such as Indonesian, Japanese, Indian, western, Nadi Padang, etc. The prices are substantially low

My go-to place living in Utown. High quality, quick and nicely airconditioned. Good prices. The only thing I would say is that there should be more healthy options.

Cheap food in air-conditioning food court. Most of the food that I had tried were tasty. There is even Gong Cha in the food court. The stall owners were nice and friendly. However, it will be very crowded during lunch hours and finding seats could pose difficulty.

Taste is fine but quite expensive at $9 at a canteen

Fine Food is one of the two canteens at University Town. The seating space here is smaller, but the number of stalls are quite aplenty. The food is generally more expensive as compared to the canteens on the Kent Ridge Campus. The stalls inside include: - Japanese/Korean food - Fish soup - Mini wok (rice set and fried rice - e.g. ginger and onion fish slice with rice) - Mixed vegetables / cai png - Noodles and dumpling - Snail Noodles - Taiwanese food (lu rou fan, fried chicken chop) - Western food (pasta, fried rice) - Salad bowls - Double boiled soup and steamed rice - Bubble tea In general, the foods are good. Several stall-specific recommendations: 1. Fish soup - They have the tomato fish soup which I find quite enjoyable. It is tangy and quite refreshing. 2. Double boiled soup - They have several soups. The watercress pork rib soup is good. The broth is tasty, with quite a generous amount of pork rib and the watercress. Their pork tripe soup is also good. The broth somewhat resembles the soup of a peppery bak kut teh. To pair with the soups, they have porridge (plain or with topping, such as minced pork and century egg). The porridge they serve is actually good eaten even on its own. 3. Mini wok - They sell rice sets (i.e. rice with stir-fried dishes), fried rice and hor fun. The sliced pork with ginger onion is good -- tender pork slices with a well-seasoned gravy. They fried hor fun is good -- it is cooked with dark sauce, tossed with fish cake slices, meat, and egg. For a twist, the cereal fried rice is quite good -- the rice is topped with fragrant cereal flakes. If you want some vegetables, they also sell kangkong with garlic, and they are quite generous with the garlic, which I liked. 4. Cai png - The stir-fried vegetables served in this stall is well seasoned and still retains its crunch. Their meat dishes - like their curry chicken and sweet sour pork - are quite good. They are quite generous with portions too. 5. Salad bowls - The salads are as expected from a salad bar. One can choose either carbs (one of them is soba) or lettuce as a base. Toppings can then be added. They offer toppings like tofu, sliced mushroom, cherry tomato, alongside with hot toppings like ‘seasoned’ brocolli. The dressings offered are quite aplenty too, but I usually opt for the roasted sesame. 6. Noodles and Dumpling - They serve a variety of noodle dishes, dumpling, and even scallion pancake. Their scallion pancake is quite thick and somewhat oily. Do expect to share this if you are ordering. They also have the chilli oil dumplings. The dumpling meat is quite tasty. If you prefer to have it in a soup, they have dumplings in chicken soup. It is also enjoyable. In addition, they also have fried noodles. It is basically their la mian noodle then stir fried in a wok with egg and chicken. The seasoning is quite good (generally on the sweeter side). 7. Western/Pasta - For the western stall, they are serving an option of tomato, aglio olio, or cream-based pasta, or fried rice as the base. Thereafter, a selection of vegetables, egg, or proteins can be added into the pasta. The tomato sauce pasta is quite good - with the pasta itself cooked to the correct doneness. 8. Drinks stall - The stall now sells waffles. The waffles is thin and is crispy.

Cheap and good! Interesting selection of food: Japanese Korean, bee hoon, mala hot pot, wok fried, mixed veg rice, xiao long bao, snail noodle (uhuh!), Taiwan, western, mixed greens (can have meat also), soup, coconut milk tea, kopi and pastries. The beef noodles and dumplings at the xiao long bao stall was very good ??
