Golden Scissor Cheongsam - People’s Park

Got my wedding cheongsam off the rack at Golden Scissor Cheongsam. It’s a beautiful dress and I got so many compliments! Alteration was done well and fitted to my body.

I own seven beautiful cheongsam from Golden Scissor and love them all. This place has a wide assortment of off-the-rack cheongsam in many sizes, which are of good value and range from everyday wear cottons to special occasion silks. It is not perhaps for the casual shopper or tourist, as you are likely to receive a frosty reception from the owner if just browsing, but she will warm up to you if you keep at it and show you are an earnest buyer. She no longer does custom or alterations except for long-time customers, as it is a lot of effort.

Use to get my CNY Qipaos from China until i chance upon them couple of years back. They have a wide selection of designs, from modern to traditional cut. I especially like their Japanese cotton selection. Price is reasonable and master tailor is also warm and friendly. She also provides advice and recommendations when asked. Since then, i have been getting my CNY dresses from her.

Saw recommendation online.... specially travelled downtown to this shop. Shop owner was uninterested. She just stood there, hands on waist....did not even bother to move her racks aside for me to view the pieces hanging inside the shop. Nothing caught my eye. When I said thank you and nodded to her before i left, she simply stared at me. Nah... dont waste your time.

I always have a pleasant time when visiting Teacher Qiying and her amazingly wide collection of cheongsams. There are style options (be it collar height, type of button closures, cut of skirts and sleeves, etc) for both the modern and traditional cheongsam lovers, made in a range of weather-conscious fabrics. The modern ones with pockets have truly functional pockets that allow me to get through a busy day with ease! I love also, that she is not pushy, and has a good eye for how to alter her off-the-rack pieces to look good and feel comfortable for your own body. Would recommend to anyone to give the shop a try!

Just walked away 5 mins from this shop, got misinformed by social media thought this is a customise tailor only to find out its pick from rack, alteration and go. Owner of shop was super arrogant and simply just brush us off. Saying they don’t customiSe and we have to choose. Sat there with eyes on her phone, didn’t even bother looking at us. I am simply disappointed after seeing her on Tv n social media to only get this kind of attitude. So much her for years of service, nothing shown were true.

Bought 2 cheongsams A-line with pockets few years ago, and went back this year with daughter for CNY dresses. I couldn't find any suitable ones for myself, and lady boss suggested to check out those cheongsams inside the shop. Found a Japanese cotton cheongsam which is perfect! She has kindly agreed to alter for me, as its a bit tight. It is around a month prior to CNY, hence am really glad that I came just in time. I have been adding new collections to my wardrobe since then, as I really like the cutting, design and material of the cheongsams. Lady boss is very frank in giving opinion, and I trust her expertise. I really love all the cheongsams I got from her.

If you are expecting service from this shop, don't go here. Only if you know what you want and just want to grab and go. Have no conversation whatsoever from the shop owner. Heard from a friend of mine that she bought her cheongsams here a few years ago and after seeing their IG account and articles, i thought i would check it out. The bad reviews here are true, I don't know if the shop warms up to tourist? Or is just SUPER picky with who she interacts with, but she was very rude to me. Greeted her and she just ignored me, that's ok, then when i wanted to ask a question she stopped me mid sentence with a very annoyed tone and said "no english". No problem, i was in a patient mood, so I asked her in chinese if she had smaller sizes available (only saw M and L), she pointed to a rack and rudely asked me to go find it myself, but there's no guarantee that the sizes would fit me. She seemed really irritated that I asked her questions about her products? It seemed like a common question. Did not understand why she was so unhappy about it. I know this sounds horrible, but the pictures and articles are a BIG let down. Some other reviews says she only entertains serious buyers...but how do you expect people to buy from you without any service? Kind of haughty for a shop owner to judge their customers beforehand no?
